Cancer

I watched your smile fade away
that day that I was afraid to say
I love you

I watched your hair begin to fall
that week you went to therapy

I saw your happiness fade away
when you found out the news

I saw your life get whisked away
by the damaging issue that kills
many people every year,
and yet I forgot to say I love you

I saw every body cry
on the day that you died

I saw the crowd of many people
die inside at your funeral

In loving memory of Lois Dickerman

and I finally remembered to say,
I love you.

Thank you so much for writing this beautiful poem about my sister, Lois Dickerman. She was a true blessing to our family and I call her our "Angel of Love". She had an overwhelming love for others and was always there to listen and to guide, when needed. It is a testiment of this unselfish love and giving that showed in the overwhelming outpouring of love shown by all her dear and precious friends during her peaceful transition and beyond. She told me goodbye just before she passed and wanted to let everyone know she will always be with us and she is at peace. Thank you for expressing her spirit so well in this poem. She is honored. We will miss her deeply, but her spirit lives in our hearts forever!

I truly enjoyed your poem "Saying Goodbye" for Lois Dickerman. Lois was a dear friend of mine for many years. We studied and became Spiritual Practitioners together. I hope you will be able to attend her memorial service this Sunday, the 13th, at 5:00pm at the Albuquerque Center for Spiritual Living. We are planning a loving celebration of her life.
