After signing Jamie Gray from Maldon Town earlier this week, Ramblers made another signing to bolster their push for promotion. Re-joining the club is non-league footballing legend Steve Portway. Ports scored 74 goals in 2 seasons with Ramblers before joining Maldon Town as player/coach. However , limited opportunities on the field persuaded him to move and with many offers on the table Steve decided to join his former side much to the clubs delight. Steve made his second "debut" at home to Barkingside on Saturday and looked as threatening as ever. Welcome back Ports.
Burnham Ramblers are delighted to announce the signing of Jamie Gray from Maldon Town. Jamie spent much of his youth at Southend United and after being released joined the Ramblers. Jamie went on to win Players Player of the year twice and at the end of the 2005/2006 season left the club in a player exodus and joined Maldon Town. However Jamie never really settled at Maldon and the centre-half chose to re-join the Ramblers despite interest from other senior league clubs. Jamie will go into the squad to face Barkingside on Saturday.

Well done Jeremiah !
I hope to be making a further announcement of 100 appearances soon. Erkan Yusuf is nearing the mark on 92 and Dan Jones is on 84. Lets hope the both stay injury free and can complete their centuries also.

John has also played for Southend United and Barking and will add invaluable experience to the team.

James Haylock's reserve side put in a sterling performance last night against Heybridge Swifts. They ultimately lost the game 2-1 but they gave a strong showing against a Heybridge side who had previously been scoring goals like they were going out of fashion. Haylock's side didn't feature one player over the age of 20 , giving the club a chance at looking to push these youngsters eventually through to the first team and give the Ramblers a good base for the coming years. Although the match ended in defeat for Haylock's boys he and first team manager Robinson have seen enough to know that this batch of youngsters have a good chance of progression unlike a lot of clubs where the reserve set up is seen as completely separate from the first team. At reserve level its performances that count not results and this side is definitely moving in the right direction.
