MISSION The Bike Path Committee is an ad-hoc committee established by the Burlington Board of Selectmen and is dedicated to making Burlington a bike-friendly community.

ACTIVITIES

• Acquire funding allocations to the town in order to create a network of bike paths dedicated to bicycles and other human-powered vehicles in cooperation with the Board of Selectmen and the Metropolitan Area Planning Commission
• Create bike lanes and routes on Burlington's streets
• Link the Burlington Bike Path to nearby bike paths for access to public transit facilities and the Minuteman Bikeway (Lexington and Bedford), Tri-Town Bike Trails (Reading, Stoneham, and Woburn), Bay Circuit Trail, and others
• Promote both utilitarian and recreational use of bicycles
• Promote safe travel on the roads and by-ways of the town
• Promote zero pollution transportation
• Encourage the placement of Bike Racks at common destinations such as schools, malls, and recreation areas
• Encourage the establishment of "The Friends of Burlington Bicycling", a non-profit public organization to provide maintenance, self-policing, and  support to the BBPC

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Participate in our committee meetings as a public representative
• Let your town officials town officials know that you support the Burlington Bike Path and Greenway Initiative
• Get experience starting and running a not-for-profit organization. The Friends of the Burlington Bike Path committee needs you. Liaison with the Traffic Division of the Police Department. Learn Robert's Rules of Order. Become President, Vice-President, Secretary, Business Representative, or Publicist
