NY Awareness is not a government page about issues just in New York. It also has to do with many things that go on in other states and even across the globe. We are not be politicians or Harvard grads. We are teens, in high school who have an opinion to voice and want the world to hear it.
When you hear or see the word "Predjudice" What do you think of? Blacks and Whites? Most people's minds stop there and don't think about other kinds of prejudice. Other than skin color there is predjudice in Religion (Christianity, Paganism, Islamic ect) and Sexuality (Gay, Straight and Bisexuals).
Skin color is the biggest example because it's been out there. The slave trade, Martin Luther King and all those things that happened years ago brought blacks up in standards of life... but they are still not equal. Whites still find themselves superior and many need a HUGE reality check in my eyes, and possibly the eyes of others.
Another one that is more obvious than others if you think about it is Religion. Salem Witch Trials being the biggest thing that comes to my mind. Christian's thinking that they are superior and killing those thought as witches because they were different had different views of the world around them.
The way I see it is that people fear what they do not understand. And what people fear they tend to destroy. It’s not right and leads in an endless circle of fighting and destruction.
We here at NY Awareness are just trying to open peoples eyes up to the fact that the world is changing and you can either accept the globe and the people who live on it for who they are no matter religion, skin color or sexuality, or slowly destroy it all with wars, weapons of hate and destruction.
Think about it.
