These first stores were to spotlight the equipment in a working store, in trying to sell the equipment,
investors wanted to lease the whole concept, in 1958 the new restaurant design was created and franchising of Burger Chef began.

Super Shef Meal, The name Shef came from president Frank Thomas, when the Big shef was intoduced in 1965.
Notice the older logo on the fry bag, new cup logo design. This was one of the first sandwich additions from new owners General Foods Inc.

This is the back of a Calender picture card from Burger Chef opened in 1964 or 65.
Burgers were 15 cents untill about 1967 when they were 18 cents. In 1970 the price was up to 20 cents.

Below is a artist rendering of how the new Burger Chef would look like, about 1967 or 68.
They keep the lava rock and white brick, but re-did the sign and orange roof to the yellow sign and red roof.
This design pictured never made it to reality, but became the COSMO II beginings.
