Sunday Children’s Tournaments 2017

 

The fourth Sunday Children’s Tournament for 2017 will be held at the U3A rooms on 30 April, commencing at 9 am. A 2017 Grand Prix is to be held in conjunction with the Sunday Tournaments. Prizes for the GP are first $50 second $40 third $30 fourth $20 Special attendance prize $20. Prizes will be decided at the last Sunday Tournament for the year in November.

 

For GP scoring, a competitor gains three points each Sunday they attend. If a lower rated player defeats a higher rated player, they will get four points. If a higher rated player defeats a lower rated player, they will get one point. Where the rating difference is more than 250, the lower rated player who defeats a higher player will gain another extra point.

 

In the event of a draw a higher rated player drawing with a lower rated player will get half a point. If a lower rated player draws with a higher rated player they will get two points.

 

QJ ratings will be used for competitors. If a competitor has no QJ rating, the DOP will allocate a rating.

 

Playing fee is $10 each Sunday. Players attending a Sunday Tournament for the first time do not have to pay the $10 playing fee.

 

There are numerous draws each Sunday for free food vouchers from Subway, Maccas, Cold Rock Ice Creamery, and Red Rooster

 

There will be two free draws of $10 and $15 each Sunday.

Chess Notices

THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF THE CLUB WAS HELD AT THE U3A ROOMS 80 A WOONGARRA STREET BUNDABERG on 24 AUGUST 2016. Martin Carter was elected President, Phil Mulholland was elected Vice President, Allan Menham was elected Secretary/Treasurer, and John Kronenburg was elected as a Committee Member.  Keith McLeod was appointed Tournament Director.

A weekday tournament will be held at Avoca School on the last Tuesday in October 2017 for school children in the district and beyond!!! Hopefully we will see over 150 primary and secondary school children compete for trophies and many cash prizes, including teams from Rockhampton, Benaraby, Maryborough, Bundaberg, Seventeen Seventy and Hervey Bay!!
