The Bulldogge breed in Canada

The Olde English Bulldogge breed has grown in popularity since the original line of dogs was created by David Leavitt. The breed name Olde English Bulldogge has been used by USA registries to describe dogs similar in concept. In Canada the breed is referred to simply as the Bulldogge.

The combined efforts of several North American Bulldogge breeders have contributed to the success and evolution of the breed. The goal of the Bulldogge breeder is to reproduce the Bulldog of Old Britain as it existed prior to the 18th century.

Canadian Bulldogge breeders emerged in the new millennium with established lines imported from the USA. The Leavitt, Hermes and Victorian Bulldogges each have their own distinct look and traits.
