Faith is more than a word...it is a force...a momentum carrying you forward on the path of your life. A Holy Spirit fueled vehicle built for your survival...Over the coming weeks I will discuss the moments in my faith that carry me forward...and I hope to illuminate the way for you, my friend.
Peace

One of the first things I had to "get past" when God plucked me and my family from our safe little denominational Church and plopped us down in a giant auditorium service complete with live music and people wavin' and clappin' was the JOY I saw all around me. I used to describe my denomination as "oatmeal faith" - sure its good for you - consistent, stable. Rocklike when heat is applied - but I often felt I was missing something...a longing to feel the love...the joy without the pain of Christ on the cross or the burden of sin wearing me down like a too large winter coat. Suddenly - there I was after fifteen years of "sit here, stand here, responsive readings and standing for the Gospel lesson" I was blown away by the real presence of God in the room. I felt it in my old church and I know there will be many deniminational Christians in Heaven...but I now know where I belong. I desire to go to church on Sundays and Tuesdays. I am hungry for God's word. Yes, the music is awesome and it makes me cry like a baby, the people are wonderful and warm - but God has given me the heart change to be a vital Christian. Alive for Him - as it should be. So one of the first things I want to impart to you is to consider your church home. Home is a place of safety, of learning, of growth, of encouragement - of gentle correction. If you feel you don't belong where you currently worship - spend some time in prayer. Ask God to give you the revelation knowledge of where He needs you to be. It may be time for a change - either facilitated in your own church - or He may be encouraging you to find a new church home. If you are happy in your place of worship - then get there frequently - roll your sleeves up and continue to add to your home so others can find that peace you have.
