The metaseries Dragonball is by the well known Manga Artist, Akira Toriyama. The story is about seven magical balls that when gathered together released a Dragon named Shenlong(dubbed Shenron By FUNimation). Shenlong may then grant any person one wish. And so, that was when the countless battles ans the struggles aswell as adventures for the Dragonballs took place.
The Story mainly takes place one day when Buruma(dubbed Bulma by FUNimation, Lena by Harmony Gold Productions) is searching for the Dragonballs so that she may wish for a "boyfriend". She happens to stumble upon Son Goku, who had been living in a forest by himself for some time since his Grandfather Son Gohan who had been killed by a Giant Monkey, later being identified as Oozaru.
Imediately, Buruma and Goku become the best of friends, and the journey all around the world searching for the Dragonballs one by one. They meet many friends such as Yamcha(dubbed Zedaki by Harmony Gold), Oolong, Pu'ar, Kuririn(dubbed Krillin by FUNimation), Muten Roshi, Chi-chi, Tenshinhan(dubbed Tien by FUNimation) and my other strange fighters, beasts and even evil villains. They all laugh at their crazy adventures as they grow older in Dragonball Z and the not so popular, Dragonball GT that didn't hit so big in Japan.
Dragonball in general has influenced many Manga artist today. Infact, the author of Naruto, Masashi Kishimoto was also inspired by the work of Akira Toriyama. And has many small "details" in Naruto that resemble alot of Dragonball.
Naruto and DBZ Cross References
In other words, as you may have already realized, there are many details in Naruto that actually are similar and come from Dragonball. To get the list started:
#1: Jiraiya and Master Roshi- Both are perverted and obsessed with Women. They are also great Teachers and huge assets to the main characters Training. If it wasn't for Master Roshi teaching Goku Kamehameha, Goku would've lost ALOT of his matches. If it wasn't for Jiraiya teaching Naruto Rasengan, Naruto would've been killed long time ago.
#2: Naruto and Goku: Food Relations- As we both see, both characters "love" to eat. Naruto, seeing as his name is actually a ingredient in his favorite food, Ramen, and Goku, his name meaning "Rice" or "a Rice dish", and seeing that Goku and his sons love Rice more then any other food. See the comparison?
#3: Vegeta and Sasuke: As a "SPOILER" most of us know that Sasuke goes to the "dark side" and joins up with Orochimaru for "training". Well, as we see in the Majin Buu Saga or the Box Set "Awakening", Vegeta decideds to trick Babidi into giving him power to fight Goku. Sasuke, "tricks" Orochimaru(Considering he betrayed him later on) into letting Orochimaru teach him New Jutsu.
#4: Naruto and Goku: The Age Difference- Not seen in the English Manga and Anime, when Goku was younger he had a very "colorful mouth", meaning he cursed alot. When growing up, Goku's ways changed alot. This is similar to Naruto in how he was a Prankster at first and then maturing and becoming a more *cough*respectful Ninja*cough*.
#5: Jutsu- There are many Jutsu within Naruto that are infact similar to the Technique and abilities in Dragonball. However, they are so diluted that you may barely realize it. To make a List, Kabuto's regeneration skill is similar to Piccolo's regeneration skill "Sai Sei". Demon King Dabura, as seen in the Majin Buu Saga, had the ability to blow fire using a technique known as "Honoo", which is the same as Goukakyu No Jutsu.
#6: Kyuubi no Chakra V.S Kaioken- Okay, they are BOTH Red Energies to start off. They have the ability to increase the Users Strengthn and abilities trmendously, however, as a result of using the technique for too long, the user body becomes extremely drained aswell as fragile and weak.
#7: There are still more analogies that I can't remember as of now, however, I will post them up soon. If any of you have any of them then just email me at jvchaney@yahoo.com or PM me on the Forums.
