Bude Town Band

FRIDAY NIGHT IS MUSIC NIGHT

Bude Town Band unfortunately have to move from their current band hall at Lynstone Road, Bude so they have to raise over £180,000 to build a new band hall.  Blanchminster Trust announced it had decided to pledge £80,000 to the bands fund. North Cornwall District Council has provided a site and contributed £75,000 towards the building work, and a further £20,000 has been raised by the members themselves through a number of fundraising efforts.  But even with all the bands fundraising efforts they still need to raise a further £5,000.

So on Friday 1^st May 2009, the band presented ‘Friday Night is Music Night’ at the Falcon Hotel in Bude acts included A Bit O’ Luck (Dick and Ann Dingle), The Central Methodist Youth Dance Group, Wish You Well and of course  Bude Town Band and the compere  for the evening  was Melville Rowe.

The evening was a great success and raised a total of £704.50 towards the bands new hall fund.

Within the evenings proceedings the Bands president Mr Michael Inch presented the Sampson Cup which is presented to the Bandsman of the Year which for 2008 was Mr David Jasper, the bands Chairman Miss Bridget Inch also presented the Broomhill Manor Cup which is for outstanding commitment to Bude Town Band which was presented to Mrs Margaret Frost.

The band would like to thank all the acts that took part on the evening and also compere Melville Rowe who gave their services free of charge to support the bands fund. The band and committee would also like to say a big thank you to Mr Browning of the Falcon Hotel, Bude for kindly letting them use their facilities free of charge and the band would also like to thank everybody that came along on the evening to support the band.

OUR PRACTICE NIGHTS ARE MONDAY 7.30 - 9pm AND FRIDAY 7.30 - 9.30pm
