Buddhism was founded some 2,500 years ago by buddha shakyamuni who was born in India, near modern-day Nepal. Buddhism is a combination of both philosophy and religion. Its philosophies and teachings are profound to help us deal with our daily lives. However, this website is meant to introduce some mantras of mahayana/tibetan buddhism. When he was born in India , the language there was in sanskrit (sanskrit = a type of language in india 2,500 years ago) , so when you recite mantras , most of them are chant in sanskrit . Some are chanted in Tibetan language . Mantras gives us calmness and comfort when we meet difficulties. Some people chant mantras for the sake of chanting which isnt really the true way. When we chant mantras, we should maintain positive feeling and dedicate merits to all beings after the session as a practice for compassion. If possible, let the mind be focused but yet in a relaxed state and not think of anything else. Just focus on chanting. Remember, the most important thing emphazied in buddhism is to do good and avoid evil !
Different Types Of Buddhism : There are lots of different types of buddhism . But , there are 3 types of buddhism that most of the people who are studying buddhism knows , they are the famous Mahayana , Theravada and Varjayana . Mahayana is everywhere in the world while theravada belongs to the south-east asia . The varjayana buddhism belongs to the Tibet. Though tradition varies, we must always keep in mind that they are all genuine paths, and different people have different ways for buddhism. They are genuine because they contain useful methods to bring us to a higher level or awareness and realisation. They have certain values. In Buddhism, we do not claim 'this is true' or 'this is false'. True or false is subjective. I noticed i made a mistake by saying all three paths are true and i guess i should not have said that. True and false, as we usually say, is more used in daily terms. I apologize deeply if i have misled readers about this.
