A.R.S.D.  Game Report - July 19 - Alameda California

By Robert Siese

San Francisco Bay Bombers Vs. Brooklyn Red Devils

During the Roller Derby at halftime was a 6 lap, legal
blocking match race between Rick Johnson of the Devils
and Makani of the Bombers.

Both men were evenly
matched . The race went back and forth but due to
interference by both teams Head Referee Hugh Kendall
threw out the race. The infield should have been
cleared for this one.

This was a very good crowd at
Alameda this evening. The Halftime score was 27-27.

Here's what happened on the last jam

The score was 59 to 60 on the
last jam Richard Brown jumped over the entire pack and
scored 4 points to win the game.

San Francisco Bay Bombers Win 63 to 60

Alameda County Fair Roller Derby

  Saturday  - June 28 - 2008 - Games

By Robert Siese

The American Roller Skating Derby set up
their track and are giving fair goers a chance to see
live Roller Derby.

They had two four period games with
the Bay Bombers and Red Devils.

The first game was
highlighted by plenty of action. Loli O and Lena
Wright were fighting . E.G. Miller and Maverick still
don't like each other and will settle this in August
on the 23rd at Kezar.

The first game was won by the
Devils 35 -34. Game two was a continuation of the
rivalries mentioned above. Rick Johnson and Makani
were starting their rivalry again. Ms Georgia Hase and
her Devils were racking up fines and penalty minutes .
The Bombers had to skate a rougher game and had their
share of penalties. It looked like the Red Devils were
going to win both games but a hard fought battle by
the Bombers gave them the win in game 2. The game was
won on the last jam by Maverick. Many people got a
chance to see live Roller Derby today. Some of them
for the first time and many of them, a chance to bring
back great memories.

Robles, Raymond Rose, Dave Rogers

Women  - Sweet Steph Garcia, Lisa Wortmeyer, Sanif Sarangen, Lena Wright and #65 Promise

Bay Bombers

Men - Richard Brown, Rick Johnson, Brian
Robles, Maverick, Earl Pearson, Brian Perry

Women - Mary Ann Carr, Janet Rovang, Loli, Dina
Roman, Kerry Merengo, Rita Williams

Cats General Manager  - Mizz Georgia Hase

 Bombers General Manager  - Icebox

Refs - Hugh Kindall, Jolynn and Allen Smith

Period One
This period started of with Loli scoring 2 points for
the Bombers.  Sanif Sarangen  scored for the Cats with
help from Sweet Steph  2 points. Loli got attacked by
Ms Georgia Hase  after she scored 2 points and sent
Steph over the rail. Skater #65 score 4 for the Cats .
Mary Ann Carr did get a penalty for kicking. The
period ended with Loli scoring 3 for the Bombers
Bombers 7 Cats 6

Period Two
Ray Robles started the period fast scoring 4 big Cat
points. Richard Brown was a awarded a point after he
was worked over by Marez. Ray Robles who jammed often
in this game scored 4 more for the Cats. Bomber Rick
Johnson was being worked over by Marez and Robles.
Icebox did chase Marez at this point. The Period ended
wit Brian Robles breaking through a double block by
Trujillo and Ray Robles
Bombers 14 Cats 12

Period Three
Icebox did receive a 50 dollar fine at the end of the
last period. Lena Wright couldn't score on the first
jam for the Cats. Lisa Wortmeyer scored 2 on the next
Cat jam. Bomber Rita Williams scored 3 on the next
play. Ms Hase did receive a 100 dollar fine at this
point for pushing Loli. Lot's of fighting at this part
of the game. Loli did score 2 points next but ended up
fighting with Sweet Steph again. Carr earned a penalty
point for the Bombers.  Bombers 19  Cats 11

Period Four
A 2 minute major penalty carried over to start the
Bombers period because of Loli fighting at the end of
the 3rd Period. Dave Rogers earned 2 Cat points to
start off this period. Icebox finally nailed Robles at
this point. Richard Brown scored 3 but at the end of
this play Robles Bulldogged him. Earl Pearson and
Brian Robles scored 6 for the Bombers. Dave Marez got
a grand slam for the Cats.He also jammed often during
this game. Brain Robles ended the period with a 4
point play. Cats 31 Bombers 30

Period 5
In a tighter defensive period. Loli went out first and
couldn't score. Sanif Sarangen scored 2 on the next
play. Bomber Rita Williams also scored 2 on her next
jam. Kerry Merengo scored 1 quick point. At the end of
the period Loli Scored 3 .. Bombers 38 Cats 33

Period 6
Raymond Rose started off the period scoring 4 big Cat
Points. Ray Robles was running wild when he ran Earl
Pearson into the infield table. He also kicked Icebox
in the Stomach minutes later and was fined 50
dollars.Brain Robles ended the period with 6 Bomber
Points. Dave Marez ran into the Icebox and crashed.
Dave also received a 50 dollar fine.  Bombers 46 Cats
38

Period Seven
Icebox and Dave Marez will be having a match race
during halftime at the next game. This Women's period
got very rough and despite good efforts by both teams,
neither team could score for the first 4 minutes of
this period. Also during a Refs time out Loli and
Sweet Steph fought the whole time. Ms Hase was warned
if she didn't control her team that she would be fined
250 dollars. I think she continues to work many games
per year just to pay off past fines. Cats Lisa
Wortmeyer scored 2 points. Loli score 4 more for the
Bombers and the period ended with Rita Williams
scoring 2   Bombers 53 Cats 40

Period Eight
Loli did get thrown out for fight at the end of the
last period but I think she had just reached her
boiling point. Dave Marez and Ray Robles got the Cats
back into the game by scoring a double grand Slam 5
points. Earl Pearson got his revenge when he ran Ray
Robles into the Cats Penalty Box. Dave Rogers and Dave
Marez each scored 3 to give the Cats the lead with
time running out. Raymond Rose tried to protect the
Cats led by calling the next jam off after some time
was burned off the clock. Bombers Brian Robles was
pushed over a stooped pack to get 5 points and give
the Bombers a win

Final ScoreBombers 60 - Cats 57

What made this game so great was the fact that the
veterans of each team jammed often and skillfully. A
well skated game in front of a great crowd.
