Based on a true story, Balto will touch your heart. Part husky/part wolf, Balto doesn't know where he belongs. He's an outcast in Alaska, except to his true friends - Boris, the Russian snow goose; polar bear cubs Muk and Luk; and the beautiful husky, Jenna. Even though he's different, all of Balto's friends recognize what he still can't see himself: his noble spirit.

One day, a serious diptheria epidemic spreads fast among the children of Nome. When a fierce blizzard closes off all routes of transport, there's no way to obtain lifesaving medicine...unless a team of sled dogs can race six-hundred miles through the blinding Arctic storm and bring back anti-toxin.

But when the dogs get lost in the frozen wilderness, only Balto can rescue the team and save the children. Starring the voices of Kevin Bacon, Bridget Fonda, Bob Hoskins and Phil Collins, Balto is the remarkable tale of a hero who inspierd nation and became a legend!                                                                     

Below are some of the charicters from the movie.

This is Balto the hero of the story (and my personal hero!).  Balto has a heart of gold and a heart for Jenna the husky .  Even if he is the nicest,sweetest,and most brave dog,he is part wolf and that is why he is the town outcast .  All the other dogs in the town make fun of him,especially Steel !  Balto refuses to accept his heritage untill he finds out that "a dog can't make this journey alone,but maybe a wolf can". 

This is Steele,the bad guy of the story. He's an egotistical{I hope I spelled that right!}malimute huskey who, like Balto, has a thing for Jenna.  He is a lead dog for his own team and has a group of followers {Nikki,Kaltag,and Star}.Star and the rest of them are his loyal servants while he's around,but they really don't think much of him.

These two goof balls are Muk and Luk,polar bears who can't swim !  Muk is the smaller and smarter of the two .  He at times has to translate what his brother is trying to say considering his brother only speaks polar bear.. or.. something !  Luk is the ball of fluff of the two,and together ,oh what a pair!  Muk and Luk think Boris is their uncle,and always seem to give him a headache,but who couldn't like these two balls of fluff !

Ahh yes,the trio !  These 3 are part of Steel's dog sled team and in other words his "posse" .  Behind Steel's back,they really don't like him much .  Star,the first one seen in the picture is a lively little guy with a big heart,who is always getting whacked in the head by Kaltag(as seen in the picture).  He also is always getting tied up in the harness and he seems to have an allergy for Balto's tail .  Kaltag is the one in the middle of the 3 .  He has quite a colorfull vocabulary and always has a word(or 2 or 3 or 4)to fit the moment .  Nothing ticks him off more than Star cutting him off while talking .  Nikki is the smart alec dog with a Brooklyn style accent .  He doesn't really like running behind Steel either .

This is Jenna , the dog that Balto likes .  Jenna sees more in Balto than meets the eye and that is what makes Steel mad .  Her owner, Rosie, is one of the kids who was struck with diptheria .  Jenna wanted nothing more than for Rosie to be ok .  She also doesn't really like Steel either ( looks like Steel is alone,eh ?).
