BRITAIN APPEALS
And down throughout the ages I have travelled
In the company of wary men
Occasionally I have stopped to see them
Fight for me now and then.
I saw a conviction in their eyes
That my body they’d defend with their lives
And I would continue on
One nation for Sean, Jimmy, David and John.
A strong and wilful people fair, firm and just
Who took my colours to far-flung unruly lands of dust
Then peacefully to withdraw and take my banner
Their countries’ then much like me – in all but name and manner.
And down throughout the ages I have disagreed
With those across the Channel, that continental creed
Yet twice in the last century of the second millennium
I have given my sons to fight and die to save them from the Hun.
Again! There’s a need for wary men to step to my defence
To save me from fragmentation and to Brussels – obedience
So you of vision, you of foresight, don’t dwell and idly complain
Come together! Speak out now! Or I’m as good as slain.
So come on you Englishmen, you Scots and Welsh – you Paddies
See the big lie of fifty years and acknowledge you’re all my ladies
And come that time you’ll set in stone my right to sovereign government
Ensuring that my Ministers can’t make illegal covenant.
And down throughout the ages I have seen, plebiscites were rare
Now you’ve a duty to ask my people – the dark and the fair
Government by permission, the majority vote will carry
Then I’ll now that truly – to Brussels I’m not forced to marry.
Steve Rogers – 22nd February 1999
"It is impossible to solve problems between European States who preserve full sovereignty. We are convinced that our times must see the creation of vast units like the United States and the USSR, and to establish a [world-wide] organisation to ensure co-operation between all those vast units. It is this organization which will create the new world order." (Jean Monnet, communiqué of 22 August 1962).
Well we strongly disagree!
In 1975 Britain's voting population went to the polls in referendum. The question that the Wilson government asked was: "Do you think the UK should stay in the European Community (Common Market)?" The result was that 67% of voters sanctioned Britain's continued membership, i.e., they voted to accept that Britain should continue in a common trading relationship with what was then just a handful of continental countries - a mutual tariff-free arrangement.
They did not vote for the abolition of Britain!
We, the people of Britain, have been duped, conned and cajoled by every government since that fateful 1975 decision to remain in the then Common Market into believing that our membership is absolutely crucial to the economic survival of Britain. In fact dear reader, if you take the time to research this nonsense you will discover that the opposite is the case. See the other sections of this site for more detail.
Prior to the 1975 referendum the government issued a 14 page booklet to every household in the land, it was entitled "BRITAIN'S NEW DEAL IN EUROPE" and carried a forward by the Prime Minister of the day - Harold Wilson. In it, he said: " We explain why the Government, after long, hard negotiations, are recommending to the British people that we should remain a member of the European Community"..."We confidently believe that these better terms can give Britain a New Deal in Europe. A deal that will help us, help the Commonwealth, and help our partners in Europe". So what was this so-called new deal? Well, firstly, it is necessary to go back 3 years' to 1972 and cast a critical eye over Ted Heath's enthusiasm to set in motion a chain of events that were specifically designed to slowly and surreptitiously steal away the sovereign self-determination of European States. When he signed up Britain to the then Common Market, he did so with the full knowledge that the end-game would see Britain as a mere vassal region of a country called Europe and, to add insult to injury, the immediate price extracted from Britain for the "benefits" of membership was the surrendering to a "common ground" of our home fishing waters - one of the richest fishing grounds in the world. In November 1990, when asked by Peter Sissons on BBC Television whether when he took us into Europe, in truth, he really had in mind a United States of Europe with a single currency, Heath answered: "Of course, yes". This, despite the fact that when his critics of the time pointed to just such a course of likely events, he said, and I quote: "There are some in this country who fear that in going into Europe, we shall in some way sacrifice independence and sovereignty... These fears, I need hardly say, are completely unjustified...". There is just one word in the Oxford English Dictionary to describe such a despicable character: TRAITOR.
So, on the 1st January 1973 Britain began its 30 year descent from proud independent nationhood to near total subordination to unelected and unaccountable foreign Eurocrats, through various unsanctioned treaties that changed the Common Market into today's EU. WE WERE NEVER ASKED IF THIS WAS WHAT WE WANTED. It's rather like giving permission to your neighbour to park his car on your drive, then to do nothing over the course of 30 years' as his family slowly move in and take over your entire house, dictate your needs and squander your bank balance.
So let's return to Harold Wilson's 1975 referendum and his New Deal for Britain. Let's be clear about this! There was no new deal. Prior to the General Election of February 1974 there were murmurings and calls for Britain to withdraw from the Common Market. Naturally, the Labour Party in opposition capitalised on this and included a pledge in its manifesto to put the issue to the electorate. In office they set up a conference in Dublin between Heads of Government - it lasted a full 2 days', and on March 18th 1974 Harold Wilson made the following announcement: "I believe that our renegotiation objectives have been substantially though not completely achieved". A total sham. On April 9th 1975 the House of Commons voted by 396 to 170 in favour of staying in "on the new terms". This was closely follwed by the Government's preparations for the referendum in which the full propaganda machinery was wheeled out to cosh the public. Don't ever believe that there was any chance of Britain withdrawing from what was then the Common Market, the conspiracy against the Nation State goes back to the 1957 Treaty of Rome and they, be they Labour, Tories or Lib-Dems are all in it together. That is why I, and many thousands more believe that this country has just one hope in hell of surviving as we know it. That is through voting for a truely patriotic candidate at every opportunity.
In their own words:
" I look forward to the day when the Westminster Parliament is just a council chamber in Europe" Kenneth Clarke, former Conservative Chancellor, International Review, 1996, Vol.23 No4.
