What is self-rule/volkstat?

Why are we frustrated with the government?

Fearing violent oppression, the Afrikaners, Griquas and ‘British’ Africans, seek their own governments, so they can rule themselves without being sidelined. They want the provinces to have greater power, to restrict the ANC-led central government.

BEE Black Economic Empowerment is legislation barring white people from employment. Basically, when a white, Indian or colored person applies for a job, they won’t be considered if a black man applies. The ANC has argued strongly with the DA and VF+ on this issue. It claims such racism is needed to respond to former racism in the Aparthied years. The argument against is that racism is wrong, fullstop. No form of racism is acceptable: It clearly violates the acclaimed Unfair Discrimination Act. BEE has been criticised throughout the world, even by BBC journalists who have refered to it as ‘racism in reverse.’

-

The government mentions that many blacks are jobless, claming that means they should be given first choice. However, there are also white jobless people. Surely, the government should just concentrate on giving unemployed people first choice? Skin is no basis; to concentrate on such violates the Unfair Discrimination Act. If the government really wants to help the unemployed, it should do such; it should create Financial Assistance for the Jobless. Poorer districts should be given assistance to set-up businesses and trade among each other. Thus new jobs will be created for the jobless in market short of jobs. In addition, the use of the word ‘empowerment’ is unusual.

Farmer attacks and invasions Farmers have been killed by gangs who have a hatred for whites. In South Africa, such farmers haven’t been protected by the government, but rather prominent ANC officials have been accused of backing the gangs. In Zimbabwe, the state has publicly, with twisted pride, murdered many farmers and taken the land they farm, which now lays infertile. The actions of colonists are being held over their descendants, by governments that judge whites wholesale. Blacks are also said to have killed 1000 farmers between 1994 and 2001.

-

On May 8 2004, a US Radio host slammed the farm attacks in South Africa as "ethnic cleansing". Popular radio host Jeff Rense said that the US government should start making arrangements to remove all ethno-Europeans from South Africa, because they will all be ethnically-cleansed, and soon". He made the very interesting comment that "If these terrorist attacks were happening to black South Africans, the US government would have invaded South Africa by now and put a stop to it".

Cities renamed where most of the population is British African. The Afrikaner majority city of Pretoria, a really sentimental location to them and a hub of their culture, was renamed Tshwane by the ANC. Likewise, the city of Durban, historically ‘British’ African, has been renamed Ethekwini, despite it being mostly populated by English-speaking-citizens.

-

In addition, the ANC hypocritically sticks to treaties between white and black settlers when they benefit blacks, but has ignored the treaties such as those between ‘British’ Africans and the Zulu king who granted them DurbanInstead of treaties, the ANC should be practical and let people live where they are, regardless of race.

-

While the ANC concentrates on renaming cities to Zulu and Xhosa names, very few Bushmen names are used. The English town of Durban was renamed but the river Orange is not officially called the Gariep. If Durban and Pretoria must be renamed, then the name of every municipality and river in southern Africa should be in a Bushman tongue.

Unrestrained sidelined crime is causing fear. Sadly, a woman is raped as often as every 6 seconds in South Africa. The government is just useless at stopping this. In fact, prominent government officials are accused of major corruption.

Municipality arrangements are arranged in such a way that each British African town is split among councils and thus they lack political influence.

Offensive rhetoric is used by many including the government. The expression ‘Kill the Boer’ has become most fearfully prevalent.
