The Brigands of the Fort are a violent and aggressive gang. Respect is earned not given. Older members of the gang are expected to be given respect. Not following orders or disrespecting an older member of the gang can end very badly for a younger member of the gang, often resulting in a few bruises and a loss of respect within the gang {Demotion}.
Once a member of the gang has clawed his/her way up and gained a lot of respect {higher ranks} from the other gang members they have the ability to command the younger members of the gang. A common aspect of the gang when younger gang members choose to show no respect or ignore orders from an older gang member is "The gang beating".
A gang beating can be ordered by any member of the gang with a good amount of respect {a higher rank than the troublemaker}. When a gang beating is ordered, all those of equal rank or below in the area must draw their weapons and proceed to beat the foolish younger member in question, to the floor {knock them down}.
Those that ignore the order and choose not draw their weapons also risk a gang beating and a loss of respect {Demotion} within the gang.
Any member of the gang including the lowest thugs can order gang beatings on any citizen of the fort.
Before a gang beating is ordered, the troublemaking gang member must be given a warning to do as they are told, if they still resist or persist in being disrespectful the order for a beating can be given.
Rules for the gang beating are as follows:
1 - Gang beatings may be ordered by anyone with higher rank than the troublemaker, but not those of equal rank.
2 - The troublemaker must be given a last warning to do as they are asked.
3 - Once a gang beating has happened the troublemaker may remove their death robe and continue on as normal.
4 - If the troublemaker beats all of his/her attackers and escapes the entire gang will be put on alert and the next time they are seen they are to be attacked on sight.
5 - The troublemaker does not have to be armed for the gang beating to take place.
6 - After a gang member receives a gang beating they will usually be demoted. The amount of time this demotion lasts will be determined by the Gm.
7 - Members who abuse the gang beating system and hand out gang beatings for no good reason risk a gang beating and demotion. Only use the gang beating order when it's really needed.
8 - Gang beatings may be ordered on citizens.
The Gang beatings system has be introduced as an IC way of keeping some sort of discipline within the gang.
