brentland collies

Brentland Collie Kennels was established more than 40 years ago when a tricolour male collie was purchased.  The breeder suggested that he was of show quality, and he was entered at the Collie Club of Victoria Open Parade.  The puppy was placed 2nd in his class, and we were hooked on dog shows!

Unfortunately, the puppy's show career was not very successful, so in order to continue in the showring, two sable and white bitches from the very successful Rouseglen bloodlines were purchased.

Both bitches had moderate success in the showring, but the start of the Brentland Collies was when one of these bitches was mated to Ch. Braeden Stop Press (Ch. Ralvera's Meadow Minstrel (Imp UK) out of Ch. Braeden Serenade).  This produced the first Brentland Champions - Ch. Brentland Bewitching and Ch. Brentland Bonanza.

All current Brentland Collies can trace their pedigrees back to these two Collies.

From exhibiting Collies, the natural progression was to judging them.

I was granted my judges licence for Collies (Rough & Smooth) in 1986, and have since had the pleasure of judging the Collie Club of Queensland, Collie Club of Victoria, Collie Club of Western Australia, and the Collie Club of NSW Championship Shows.

I am also Kennel Club (UK) approved to award Challenge Certificates for Collies (Rough) in the United Kingdom.

My involvement with Collies over the years has led to making some very special friends, both in Australia and overseas.  There is nothing better than travelling overseas to see friends and sharing our love of Collies.
