Q. Why did Aeon trap a fly with her eyelashes in the beginning of the film?

A. It was an homage to the animated series which always started with Aeon capturing a fly using her eyelashes.  It was a signature image of the animated series.

Q. What did Aeon exchange with that stranger through their kiss?

A. It was a pill (comm-capsule) that allows for communication amongst the Monicans.  Once it enters their system they enter a strange realm that exists in their minds called ‘Handler Space’ where they meet with the leader of the Monicans, The Handler, or communicate with other Monicans in secrecy.

Later in the film, Aeon can be seen using one of her emergency comm-capsules.  The Monicans keep backup comm-capsules lodged in their spines, in the case of emergency meetings.

Q. Is it true that the stranger she kisses in the film is actually her boyfriend, Stuart Townsend?

A. Yes, it is Stuart Townsend in an uncredited cameo.  This is also confirmed in both audio commentary tracks on the DVD.

Q. What is that liquid that Aeon pours into the glass around 12 minutes into the film?  Is it some kind of medicine?

A. The solution is actually a meal in a liquid form.  Aeon is denying herself the pleasure of all the delicious food available in Bregna.  At this point in the story, she has no desire to enjoy her life and the food in the liquid form is for sustenance only.

Q. What is that thing that comes out of the Handler’s mouth the second time Aeon meets her?  And what happens when she blows on it?

A. Most of the technology in this film originates from organic matter.  She blew on some kind of flower, but not just any ordinary flower – it is more of a storage device.  The pollen that travels through the air and lands on Aeon’s eyes contains data.  The pollen seems to cause some kind of reaction in Aeon’s body and a map is imprinted in one of her arms.

Q. Why does Sithandra have hands where her feet are meant to be?

A. Sithandra is based on the character ‘Scaphandra’ in the animated series, who also had hand-feet or ‘fands’.  Her obsession with body modification and performance has led her to radical surgery.  She elected to have her feet replaced by a second set of hands which gives her uncanny abilities in combat, from wielding multiple weapons to incredible gymnastic abilities.

Q. What is that thing that Sithandra swings up into the sky in the frontier garden scene?

A. It was a decoy intended to distract the poison-dart pods hanging from the trees.  When it was thrown up into the air, the pods immediately aimed for the decoy allowing Aeon and Sithandra enough time to make their way onto the next section of the frontier garden.

Q. What is Aeon scattering in the tunnel system?

A. She is planting several little orbs, which respond to Aeon’s rehearsed whistles.  She later finds a need for them when she is held captive in a cell.

Q. On Aeon’s first attempt to assassinate Trevor Goodchild, she is knocked out.  Who knocked her out?

A. That would be Freya – Trevor’s right hand woman – wielding a blackjack weapon.

Q. Why does Aeon experience pain when drinking the message from Trevor?

A. The Bregnan government’s communication system is not as advanced as that of the Monicans.  They haven’t perfected secret communication as well as the Monicans have.

Q. How was Una’s clone born in such a short amount of time after her death?

A. At the time Aeon was assigned the mission to eliminate Trevor Goodchild, a year had passed since Una’s death.  This is evident in the exchange of dialogue between Aeon and The Handler:

Aeon: “You should have sent me in earlier.”
The Handler: “That would have been suicide!”
Aeon: “Not for me!”
The Handler: “Patience Aeon.  It has taken a year to get the information we need.  I know you want to do this for Una but you must remember this is larger than you.  She’s not the only innocent person who’s been killed.”

Q. When Aeon and Trevor hand Sasha Prillo back to her parents, what is thrown through the glass and why don’t they escape with the couple and the baby?

A. The Bregnan Shock Troopers threw a sonic bomb into the house.  Aeon and Trevor don’t escape with the family as they don’t wish for them to come into harm’s way.  So they remain behind to deal with the Shock Troopers.  The sonic bomb stuns them and, upon exploding, emits a sonic wave that throws Aeon and Trevor into walls.

Q. Could you please explain the final scene in this film?

A. It’s a flashback to the first time Aeon (Katherine) and Trevor had met.  It was the situation of two people who had just fallen in love, not having any worries about corruption, war or death.  Two people as they were and the how they will be yet again, now that the Relical had been destroyed.  It was a memory, and a vision of the future at the same.
