Monican Operative. Though the Monicans have no formal system of military ranks, Aeon Flux is seen as the most valuable and powerful asset the Monicans have.
Little is known about the origins of Aeon Flux. She came to the rebellion early in life, surviving in the margins, the dark corners of the brightly-lit world of Bregna. She lives in monk-like simplicity, shunning creature comforts. Her disciplined warrior nature covers a truly chaotic soul.
Aeon Flux believes in chaos, distrusts order. Her motives and ethics are fluid. She fights for self-determination, against the forces of conformity, to evade all forms of control.
Aeon is highly proficient in an esoteric form of hand-to-hand combat. She is an expert in firearms and explosives, as well as in stealth and acrobatic infiltration. She has an uncanny tolerance for pain.
Aeon has no living relations other than her sister, Una.

Chairman of the council of scientists. Ruler of Bregna. Accomplished theoretical scientist.
Groomed from his earliest years by his father to eventually assume power, Trevor is seen as a strong, effective, if sometimes harsh ruler. He is secretive, keeping council only with his brother, Oren, and his right-hand woman, Freya. He is obsessed with his personal scientific experiments, seemingly more than with the day-to-day realities of ruling. Enigmatic and mysterious, Trevor exudes a dark charisma.
Trevor believes in order and control. He is not afraid to put the individual second when it comes to his over-arching goals for society.
Trevor is a brilliant scientist and more physically capable than one might expect.
Younger brother Oren Goodchild serves on the council and is Trevor’s closest advisor.

Second ranking member of the council of scientists. Responsible for supervision of Bregna’s military and police forces.
Oren has been Trevor’s confidant since Trevor assumed power upon the death of their father. More impulsive than the level-headed Trevor, Oren is known to battle with the council over policies and goals, but his passion and belief are never in question. Much of the day-to-day responsibility of governing the city falls on his shoulders.
Oren believes above all that the ends justify the means, and that humans have only begun to realize the possibilities of their existence. His faith in science borders on the religious.
Oren has focused his scientific studies on spiritual matters.
Other than Trevor, Oren’s closest personal relationship is with Inari, his primary aide. She has been with him for several years and the pair are subject to unconfirmed rumors about the true nature of their relationship.

Monican operative. Protégé of Aeon Flux. Already assuming a leadership role in the rebellion.
Sithandra joined the Monican rebellion after her mother disappeared without a trace several years ago. Her obsession with body modification and performance has led her to radical surgery.
Sithandra sees things as fairly black and white. She is headstrong, and a fanatical believer in the Monican cause.
Sithandra does not handle her emotions very well and does not act based on her true emotions. She lives her life according to the Monican cause.
Sithandra has elected to have her feet replaced by a second set of hands also known as ‘fands’. This gives her uncanny abilities in combat, from wielding multiple weapons to incredible gymnastic abilities.
Her relationship to her mentor, Aeon Flux, is unusually close.

Captain of the guard, assigned to the personal protection of the chairman.
Freya
rose rapidly through the ranks of the Bregnan military and caught
Trevor’s eye while single-handedly repelling a Monican raid, killing
two high-level Monicans in the process.
Freya is a single-minded warrior whose life is driven by her loyalty to Trevor.
Freya is a fierce fighter. She has commissioned several customized weapons, including her quill caster, the most lethal individual weapon in the arsenal. She has a platoon of elite troops at her beck-and-call who answer only to her.
Freya has family both within the military and without. Her closest relationship is with Trevor.

Bregnan Civilian.
Una Flux is her sister Aeon’s only real tie to ordinary life. She lives a fairly normal existence in Bregna.
Una believes that a good life can be lived within the system. She has resisted Aeon’s call to join the rebellion. She is interested in the aesthetic, seeking beauty and connection with others.
Una is well-liked by her friends and neighbours. Her fiancé, Claudius, is an experimental botanist in the employ of Trevor Goodchild.

Claudius is Una’s fiancé with whom he shares a strong bond.
He is an experimental botanist in the employ of Trevor Goodchild.
Claudius shares the same beliefs as Una, yet he suspects something strange within the system. He appreciates his lifestyle in Bregna too much to question anything.

A member of the Bregnan council.
Giroux is a close friend of Trevor Goodchild’s.
Giroux’s passion for the finer things in life occasionally interferes with his objective approach in the Bregnan council.

Oren Goodchild’s primary aide and fiancé. Oren
has been with her for several years and the pair are subject to
unconfirmed rumors about the true nature of their relationship.
Inari is selfish with regards to her position in Bregna. She displays traits of cowardice and approaches things keeping only herself in mind.

The Keeper is an old and strange being, living out-of-sight.
The Keeper holds the key to the Goodchilds’ hold on Bregna.
He is the individual entrusted with accessing and securing information on all of Bregna’s citizens.
The
Keeper lives in The Relical, what the citizens of Brenga know as the
floating memorial – a reminder of what they have all survived.
The Keeper has once rebelled against the system, unsuccessfully. Generations ago, he saw that rebellion was the wrong path to choose.

The ambiguous leader/near-deity of the Monican rebellion. She exists only in chemical/holographic form, an apparition who can only be summoned by ingesting a sacred pill also known as a comm-capsule.
Only rumor and conjecture surround the origin of the Handler. It is assumed that at one point she was fully human, perhaps one of the leaders of the first Monican rebellion some 200 years ago.
The Handler’s vision is one of a new Bregna, after the destruction of Goodchild’s rule.

Inari is selfish with regards to her position in Bregna. She displays traits of cowardice and approaches things keeping only herself in mind.
