Sora

Main Character. Sora dawns a new outfit that is much like his original but black. Sora is now 15. All we know is he is desperately trying to get back to Kairi. Rumor has it that there will be two playable characters so we might be separated from Sora for a portion of the game. (Oh No!) But this is still just a rumor folks.

Kairi

Kairi is the girl who Sora ventures for in the first game. She is bound to him with great friendship. Now she is patiently waiting for Sora's return journey. The journey of Kingdom Hearts II.

Donald and Goofy

Donald and Goofy appear the same as in the original game. Donald appears to still be short tempered and Goofy dimwitted. Both fight along side Sora in search of their King.

Riku?

This character has only appeared in the KHII secret trailers. There are strong rumors roaming the internet of him being Riku. Which is very possible. In the deep dive video he runs down a building and takes one of the keyblades from the dual keyblade wielder to help fight off the Heartless. In 'Another Side, Another Story' he shields the keyblade wielder with a glowing Heartless symbol acting as a force-field.

The Unknowns

These hooded figures were seen in both the KH secret trailers as well as in the screen shots for KHII. It seems these 'unknowns' are the enemies this time around and there are more than one. The sequel must have been planned because one of these figures is a boss in the Japanese exclusive Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. Also one appears briefly in the beginning of Kingdom Hearts. These figures are mysterious. Little is known at this point.

Axel	Although not officially confirmed, translations claim that this character's name is Axel who will be one of the many unknowns, he has two circular weapons and can summon much energy. Judging by his appearance in the KHII trailer, he will most likely be one of the leaders of the unknowns.

Blonde Keyblade Wielder

This blonde haired kid has remained unidentified. The only shots of him show the back of his head. Since in one shot, he is opposing the red haired guy it seems he's a good guy. Rumors have been floating around that he is Tidus, but I doubt that. In the picture to the left he is holding two keyblades, the oathkeeper and the oblivion keys. Note that the black-cloaked character in the Kingdom Hearts secret ending also carries two keyblades. This has been rumored to be the other playable character.

King Mickey

Mickey doesn't look like a king anymore. He has been gone for some time now and seems to have become tougher. Reporters have said that the trailer at the Tokyo Game Show 2003, it showed Mickey pulling out a keyblade. It looks like everybodies got one now!!! But look at what Mickey wears now, a black cloak. Hmm...maybe these hooded figures aren't as bad as we thought. Or maybe Mickey has gone undercover. Little is known, but it's likely Mickey will have a larger role in this game.

The Heartless

It looks like the heartless aren't gone after all. It's likely that the old types are back, but there will most likely be more new types. The heartless in the image shown is a Neo Shadow which was only found in Kingdom Hearts Final Mix. The Heartless may continue to hunt Sora but with so many keyblades, they might be going all over the place.
