When we know about our ancestors,

when we sense them as living and as supporting us,

then we feel connected to the genetic life-stream,

and we draw strength and nourishment from this.

The Branches Of

My Family Tree

Main Geographical Ties :

At this site I will share with you the branches and roots of my family tree.  Perhaps you will even find some branches that connect to your tree.  Also included is information on the Deeter family, my husband's line.  Use the navigation bar at the left to visit the family pages.

My love of family history started early.  I was an only child and this interest was fueled by the time I spent growing up surrounded by the older relatives of both sides of my family.  I was the youngest grandchild in both my mom and dad's family.  I loved being with the adults.  I spent many summer evenings on the front porch swing listening to stories from the past from my great grandpap Mundis.  My "Pap" and his daughter, my grandma, lived right across the street from us.  I am sure I spent as much time in that house as our own when I was growing up.  Most Sundays many of our relatives came for Sunday dinner at my grandma's house.  The afternoon was passed with the folks sitting in the big living room talking.  How I wish I could have a tape recorder in my mind that would play back all those conversations.

My daddy's parents lived in a small town in the country and we would take the bus to visit them on weekends.  We would stay over Friday night and sometimes into Sunday.   I always enjoyed going there.  My Grandma Spalding was an awesome cook and seamstress!   Grandpa, dad and I would go for walks to the river and sometimes along the train tracks.  There was a mountain spring not far from the house that was most refreshing on summer days.  At night I would lay in the dark in the back bedroom and listen to the sounds of the trains passing nearby.  I would drift off to sleep making up stories about where those trains were off to and what treasures they carried.

Their stories are my stories and part of who I am.  On these pages I hope to honor the memory of those who have gone before me, tell a bit of their history and hopefully find a few missing cousins along the way!

Please leave me a note in my guestbook to let me know you were here and especially if you think we may have a family tie!  Please note that I can't reply to you in the guestbook I currently have, so please leave me an email to contact you or email me at mdspaldingfamily@aol.com
