1) Tunnel of Oppression
-Work Nights every Monday and Thursday from 7-9pm in Garrett Center
2) Translating at Kingman Primary School for PTO Meetings (we really need help with this so let me know if you are interested)
-First Tuesday of every month at 5:45pm

3) Catholic Charities—Girls Youth Program

-Proceeds go to Friends of Peoria with Aids
-ALAS has decided to be on the Entertainment Committee so we will need everyone’s help on this

-We will be having a guest speaker at the next meeting from Northwestern Mutual coming to talk about job opportunities.  Please come on time and be respectful of her time and efforts.

ALAS Minutes 8/29/06

1. Brief Introductions

2. Introduction to organization; our mission and purpose

-also, please take a
look at our By-Laws (attached and available on website).  We are required
to make these available to all of our members.  

3. Attached you will see a list of upcoming events.
-Ms. Edie¡Çs Oasis (9/8)
-Dance on Quad (9/15)
-Salsa Lessons (10/17-11/4)

4. Service Opportunities
-Translating for District 150 ¢ª If you are interested, and were not
at the meeting, please let me know and I will add you to the list.  This
is translating at different elementary schools and the lady will
contact you when she needs you.
-Catholic Charities ¢ª Our Service Chair, Jennifer, is working on a
service opportunity with them.

5. Sign-Ups
-We had committee sign-ups for Service, Social and Fundraising.  If
you have not signed up and are interested in these, please let me know
and I will add you to the list. 

6. Dues ¢ª Dues will be $5 a semester and are due by the week of Sept.
10th;  Dues are so that we can have social events for our organization.

7. T-Shirts ¢ª ALAS would like to order T-shirts for this semester. 
They will be ~$14 each.  They will be white t-shirts with possibly blue
font (the position will not be on there).  I will attach a picture of
the shirt.  If you have not signed up for one and are interested, please
let me know so I can add you to the list.  Money for T-shirts is also
due the week of Sept. 10th. 

8. If you have any ideas for Service Opportunities, Social Events
and/or Fundraising Events you would like to see us do, please let us know. 
We want to do what you want to do. 

9. Meetings ¢ª I am working on changing the meetings to Thursdays @
8pm.  The next meetings is TBA.  You will see an email from me in a few
days about the new date and time.   


-If you are interested in coming to Ms. Edie¡Çs Oasis, please meet at
the Student Center at 7:30pm on Friday, September 8th.  If you have a
car and don¡Çt mind driving, please bring it.   (Let me know if you are
interested in going so we know how many people will come)

-Please bring your checkbooks to the next meeting for dues and
t-shirts. 

-Please await an email from me for our next meeting. 


-For those of you who were not at the meeting on Tuesday, and have not
contacted me with your interest in ALAS, please let me know by next
Friday, September 8th if you are interested in being a member of ALAS.
