Who are the Police explorers?

Explorer Post 727 is a youth oriented program sponsored by the Bow Police Department. Explorers have an opportunity to learn about the criminal justice system and participate in a variety of law enforcement activities and training as a way to explore this field.

What is exploring?

The Explorer Division is governed by the Daniel Webster Council, the same body that governs the Boy Scouts and affiliated groups in New Hampshire. The Explorers are not affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America. They are affiliated with Learning for Life. Learning for Life is an organization dedicated to helping young people gain experience and insight in career fields. Learning for Life does not discriminate and is an equal opportunity organization. There are many types of explorers. There are fire explorers, business explorers, EMS explorers, police explorers, as well as other trades.

What do the Explorers do?

·         Learn various skills used in police work such as traffic stops, traffic control, handcuffing, building searches, etc.

·         Field Trips to area trainings and speakers

·         Attend competitions that allow explorers to compete head to head

·         Explorers are allowed to perform ride-alongs with officers to see first hand what being a police officer is really like

Explorers are encouraged to attend the one week NH Police Cadet Training Academy in the summer.
