This year open for camping from May 11 to October 7, 2012Welcome to the new Bowman Lake website, maintained by volunteers. Bowman Lake has always been known as a very family oriented campground. Many of the families that frequent our park have been coming here since it opened in 1966. Now their children are grown and bringing families of their own, creating a very multi-generational facility. We'd like to help carry on this family tradition by using this website to enable us to stay in touch with all of friends. We hope this user-friendly site will enable us to make new friends too, and give everyone an opportunity to find out more about Bowman Lake State Park. I'm sure you will see when you look at our list of facilities below that there is something for everyone. Thank you for visiting our site and we look forward to seeing you soon in person.

Bowman Lake is located in the picturesque hills of Central New York in what's known as the Central Leatherstocking Region. The 35 acre lake is situated on 660 scenic wooded acres, and bordered by over 8000 more acres of state land. The park is home to more than 70 different species of bird including, geese, ducks, finches, hawks, and turkeys. There is abundant wildlife for visitors to observe such as deer, raccoon, rabbit, fox and beaver. A wide variety of trees and other flora may be viewed year round in all their spender. The lake is stocked with rainbow and brook trout, bass, bluegills, crappie and bullhead.
This is the perfect place for you to enjoy time with your family and friends. We have plenty of activities to keep you busy as well as 200 roomy and secluded campsites if you prefer to just kick back and relax. There are trails for hiking, an area for swimming, and rowboats, paddleboats and kayaks for rent. You may also bring your own cartop, hardbottom boat for a small fee. Check rules for what is permitted.
We are well known in this area as "The Little Adirondacks," only without the bears! We hope you'll give us a try and make The Bowman Lake Experience part of your family tradition.
