Our Gang Mikey, Spikey and Clyde

We are associates and fosters for the Boston Terrier Rescue of East Tennessee-Maryville,TN. We are a non-profit 501(c)(3)organization, solely funded by our own monies, adoption fees, and donations from the public. Most of the time, the adoption fees do not cover the needed vetting for these dogs.
We live in Pound, Va and have other fosters in Marion, Va, and NC, and TN. Our coordinators are in Maryville, TN, and they, too, fosters some of the rescues. We take in almost all Bostons, we do not "cull" or refuse any because of age, or medical condition. We do NOT take in human aggressive dogs, aka "biters", once it has been determined that they are prone to attack humans.

Rescue is a much needed, time consuming, group effort, as there are literally MILLIONS of dogs euthanized in the US every year, due to overpopulation, and the lack of spaying and neutering dogs. Plus, being in the "disposable" world we live in, there are many other reasons that dogs land in Kill shelters. Rescue efforts save thousands of dogs yearly from being left in "HIGH-KILL" shelters to be euthanized, owner surrenders when circumstances in ones life make it necessary to give up their pets. Then the dog that has been rescued gets fully vetted, with all the necessary shots to get them up to date, spay/neuter as needed, and placed on any necessary medications they may need. From that point they are usually placed into temporary foster homes, to help identify any underlying issues the dog may have and try to correct them, or at least make the potential adopters aware of the problems, such as housebreaking, marking territory, socialization with both humans and other pets, dog/cat aggressions, if they will make a good pet in a home with children, if they have any medical conditions that will require continuing medications, among other things. Rescues then find these dogs the forever homes they so deserve through an adoption process, complete with an application, vet references, personal references and a home visit before and after the adoption process has been completed. These are necessary steps to take to assure the dog is placed into a home suitable for both the dog and the potential adopter.
We take these dogs into our homes and give them INSIDE shelter, (whether it be on the couch, chair, floor, dog bed, or even our bed), food, baths, vetting when needed, toys, treats, and most of all LOVE.
Bostons need to be INSIDE dogs. They are very active, and playful dogs. Some are very sociable with other pets, while others would rather have their humans all to themselves. They are very loving, compassionate, devoted companions, and are very willing to please their humans. They are very intelligent dogs. They come in a variety of sizes, and personalities, and are usually Black & White, although there are some that are Brindle & White, and even Black/Brindle & White. As with any purebred dog, they are succeptible to health problems. A good vet is always a MUST with any pet. This is an ABSOLUTE MUST.
I hope you enjoy this website and hope you consider a rescue dog, either from your local shelter or rescue group, no matter what breed you are looking for.
