Boston Physics Tutor

Making Physics Fun

About Myself

Hi! My name is Erica Saint Clair and I am offering private and semi-private tutoring for physics of varying levels. I obtained my undergraduate degree from Miami University (OH) in engineering physics (B.S), I then continued with Miami University (OH) to obtain my Masters in Physics with a research emphasis on biophysics. I recently moved to Boston to pursue my PhD in physics with a research emphasis in molecular biophysics. I am finishing my second year student at Boston University and have finished my written comprehensive examination with a high pass score. In all I have spent 7 years of post high school study in the physics concentration.

My teaching experience has been gained in the classroom. I have taught freshman physics, calculus based, laboratory courses and the sophomore physics majors laboratory courses at Miami University (OH). I have also taught classroom discussion sections for Boston University including freshman physics (calculus and non calculus based), an introductory course for physics majors and a freshman course for those in the seven year medical school program.

I have a significant amount of tutoring experience. At Miami University (OH) I tutored more than 20 students over two years in the freshman physics, calculus based course. Since then I have expanded my tutoring at Boston University and now take on about 3 or 4 students per semester in a variety of courses. During this time I developed a variety of methods to help the student organize their thinking and apply good problem solving skills to reach a conclusion. I have also learned the things that most students have a hard time with and developed methods to ease the frustration and adapt the student to a new style of thinking. I look forward to helping you gain confidence in your physics class!
