I got the impression that my vet wasn't used to seeing new puppies in such good condition - he seemed pleasantly surprised. She has a great temperament - energetic but not wild, calm but not timid, curious & alert, already bonding with the family, especially me & my wife, she will relax and let the kids hold her, eager to please and going to the bathroom outside regularly for a treat. We have no doubt that she will be a great dog for our family.

Who is Wired?
Wired
is a family owned kennel. We established ourselves in 2001 breeding
American Pit Bull Terriers and Beagles and in 2004 as an IOEBA
registered kennel specializing in Olde Boston Bulldogges. Currently we
specialize Olde Boston and Olde English Bulldogges.
Owners, James
and Becky Maxwell, have been breeding and training dogs together for
over 8 years. James comes from a family rich in breeding history.
Becky has found her specialty in training and has a true gifting when
it comes to house breaking dogs.
Together with their boys Peyton
and Kayden, Wired Kennels is operated. Both boys have been active in
handling dogs at IOEBA sanctioned conformation shows. In fact our GR. CH.
Wired's Kodiak of RBB won his champion title under the hand of Peyton and CH. Wired's Hoss of FMR earned his title while being handled by Kayden.
Our
goal has always been to establish Wired as our full time establishment
of breeding, kenneling, and training dogs. Our goal is becoming more
and more realistic as our program grows.
What is Wired?
A
lot of people ask us, "What does Wired mean?". We have always
had a vision of doing two things. Owning a kennel and owning a coffee
shop. The name "wired" did a really good job describing both traits
that each business held in common. It is what we wanted. Dogs that
are energetic, alert, and ready ... and we wanted to help get people to
that same place too!
The kennel is already a reality. We are hoping in a couple of years that the coffee shop will be too!
What is an OBB today?
There
are two answers to this question. First, there are OBBs that have a
history of purebred linage. Examples of these are lines of dogs bred
by the late Neil Rutan, the late Charles McCaughin, and the Henley
family. You can trace back many of these lines for several generations
with some going back many decades in history.
The other side of
this is OBBs that were produced from a series of foundation
breedings. A foundation breeding can be a cross of a Boston Terrier to
a few other bully breeds to create a dog to begin an OBB
breeding program. These foundational dogs are generally referred to as F1 – F4 bred
dogs. Foundation breeding takes several years to get to a point of
consistency. Reputable foundation breeders will often have several
breeders that they work with for accountability, mentoring, and reference. They
generally work close with a registry, like the IOEBA, to help insure
that their program is as successful as possible. The important issue
regarding foundation breeding is that they remain as historically
accurate as possible. Because of this, not all bully breeds can be
used in a foundational program. For information on approved dogs for
foundational breedings contact the IOEBA.
Healthy or not?
This is a
question that comes up a lot. In our breeding program we focus on two
breeds of dogs, the Olde Boston Bulldogge and the Olde English
Bulldogge.
The Olde Boston is still a relatively young breed, in that there are
still very few breeders specializing in OBB. While there are cases like
the Henley line that go back many generations, the "market" for this
breed has been dormant up until about 15 years ago. For this reason
there are some things that we are still learning about the breed. As
of this writing, there are no major health concerns associated with the
breed. While nothing is perfect in breeding and issues can present
themselves, there has not been issues that appear so frequently that it
has been found common in the breed. What we do know is the Olde Boston
does not share many of the health concerns found in Boston terriers and
English bulldogs. Some these include breathing difficulty, incomplete
eye sockets, and breeding /whelping problems; just to name a few.
The Olde English is a breed that was a by-product of selective breeding
through foundational programs. The goal has always been to produce a
bulldog that is healthier and more functional than that of the modern
day English bulldog. However; because all these dogs are /were
foundationally bred to begin with, it is very important to know about
health issues in the lines that you are considering to purchase from.
Breeders have different ways of culling their lines in order to improve
the health and soundness of their program. Some cull very hard while
other will let certain things slide. So be sure to ask the breeder how
they improve the health of their line through culling.
IOEBA and UCA exclusive ...
There are many registries out there that we could take our registration business to but at Wired we have chosen to exclusively register with the IOEBA and their sister all breed registry UCA. These registries set the bar that other bully registries try to achieve.
The IOEBA has proven the dedication that we desire to see in promoting and educating people about the Olde Boston and Olde English. Here are some of the many reasons we register exclusively with these registries:
- Fast paper work processing
- Quick response time
- Accurate record keeping
- High quality registration papers
- First create an OBB breed standard
- Requires phenotype consistence in single registration
- Rejects foundation dogs that don't represent the historical heritage of the OBB and OEB
- Promotes and educates the public about rare breeds
- Actively supports organizations that fight breed specific legislation
If you purchase a Wired dog and receive anything other than IOEBA or UCA papers it isn't a Wired dog!
