I'm researching into the life of John Otto Boole on behalf of my church ALL SAINTS CHURCH, PENARTH, WALES UK, as we are currently preparing a new memorial to WW1 dead and John Otto will be remembered at the Remembrance Service this year and also next year when we have a more detailed service to recognise the scarfice the men of our parish made for us, when details of their lives and their war service will be remembered. It is my task to try and find family members of JOHN OTTO BOOLE who may wish to come to the service.
I look forwards to hearing from you
Best wishes

I am the Archivist at Bloxham School, where John Otto Boole was a pupil between 1905 and 1907. I thought I would let you know that as well as his name being on memorials in Cardiff and Penarth, his name is on the school memorial and his photograph on permanent display. His name, as with all those Old Bloxhamists who perished in the two World Wars, is read out in our annual Remembrance Service.

Dear Kevin

I have not heard from you since almost 2 months! Is it all right?
I am glad to inform you that a new traslation by myself of E.L. Voynich' s The Gadfly is bound to come out in Italy next month!
Moreover in 2014 in Italy we are planning a conference for the 150th anniversary of Ethel's birth. We would be very honoured to have some relatives of her (you and your cousin) who have devoted some studies on her. If you two took part to the conference, writing a paper, it would be great!
Surely, it's a long time to 2014, but I need to know if you are interested with a decent advance, obviously!

What's his cousin's name? Can I contact you directly via mail?

Thank you very much, Kevin.

All the best. Happy new year!

Alessandro

Thank you very much, Kevin!
May I learn more about this book? I would like to ask your cousin some questions, if you can provide me with an e-mail address.
As for the name, it is very strange that both in the electronic catalogue of the Library of Congress and of the British Library we can find "LiLLian"... Surely, her marrage certificate is a more reliable document. By the way, I cannot understand when she got married: Pamela Blevins says "1902", but I have found some letters from 1892, in Russian, by Wilfred Voynich and Ethel, when they call themselves husband and wife...Best regards. Alessandro

Dear Alessandro. My cousin has just replied. He his just completing a book on Ethel Lilian that will be published for the 150th anniversary of her birth in 2014. LiLian is shown on her marriage certificate. I am told others would even use Lily we she did not like. I hope this helps. If I can be of further help please ask. regards Kevin Boole

Dear Mr. Boole
I am an italian researcher, interested in Ethel Boole. I have found in several places that her second name could be LiLLian, not LiLian. Maybe we all went wrong because of russian transliteration "лилиан", whereas Ethel usually signed ELV or E. L. Voynich, so that for me it remains a mistery.
Have you got any document that certify the right name?

THANKS

Dear Alessandro.
Thank you for your question about the spelling of Lilian. I must say that all the records I currently have, all have Lilian as the middle name for Ethel Boole. I have asked my cousin who has researched Ethel more than I have for his opinion and also if he has any "official records" that could assist. will reply directly to your email when received. regards Kevin Boole
