books and libretti's collection of recordings

Broadway, soundtracks, and eclectica

Whoops.

This page is under construction.  It should be finished by the end of this weekend, or next weekend, or, uh, some weekend, anyway.  Sorry about that.  Drop me an e-mail if you're dying of interest.

Welcome

This is a page I created so I could have a pretty, easily updated online list of CDs I have and those I want. It's primarily for me, but feel free to look around. If you want to talk about a shared interest, you can e-mail me.

Categorization

Use the links on the right to navigate through the genres of my CDs.

The pages formatted like "Broadway A-Z" contain Broadway shows listed alphabetically by composer's first name, the way iTunes does it.  Within a composer category, works are divided into two types: complete shows vs. "greatest hits" compilations.  Separately, both of those categories are displayed chronologically.  This kind of categorization is helpful for browsing people who know they like one work by a composer, and would like to hear about more.

Please note that musicals turned into movies are listed on the Broadway pages, not on the soundtrack page; for example, you'll find the 2002 Chicago movie under Kander & Ebb on the "Broadway A-Z" pages.  Movies that subsequently turned into musicals are listed separately, the movie soundtrack on the movie page (e.g. Billy Elliot) and the musical on the Broadway pages (Billy Elliot: The Musical under Elton John).  Movies that originated musicals that have never gone anywhere (e.g. Newsies) are only on the movie page.

I'm thinking about creating a separate list that contains the same data, but organizes musicals by name (and then chronologically by production) instead.  Would this be more helpful or interesting?  E-mail me and let me know what you'd like.
