INSIDE OUT 2002 - 2007

It was 5 years ago our fledgling books to prisoners program started looking around for a quality up to date prisoner resource guide that we could throw in prisoner book packages. What we found readily available was rather pitiful. Most were outdated, overpriced, and severely lacking in content. So in true Do It Yourself nature we naively figured we would just create our own. Not that it would of changed a thing but at the time we had no idea how much work it would require to produce and maintain our own resource guide. Inside Out is and has been the result of those efforts. Its taken a lot of work, stress, and individual and collective discipline to stay on top of this project all these years.

The workload has often fell on the shoulders of a few and that has led to burnout. Rather then half ass the project were calling it quits.  The 2007 ed. is the final edition of Inside Out that will be compiled and published by The Books 4 Prisoners Crew. Call it the going out with a bang edition if you will. We still consider Inside Out one hell of a success. In five years our program alone has sent out well over 50,000 copies to prisoners and Inside Out is currently distributed to prisoners free of charge by over a dozen other groups in one form or another. All this with no outside funding and while maintaining our own sense of radical flavor.

Though this project is coming to an end “The CREW “ still remains strong and committed to a world where the only prisons are in our minds, a world where rather then hide behind the curtains and call the cops the whole block will sit down (and rise up when needed) to settle disputes, and a world where only judges will be at the bullfrog races amongst the kids.
