BOLD in Phoenix 2008

We are a group of individuals and organizations that have come together for the purpose of putting on a production of Birth, a play by Karen Brody, in the Phoenix area. Our production is part of the national BOLD (Birth On Labor Day) project and will take place Labor Day weekend; to raise funds for local organizations and awareness of maternity care issues.
The mission of the BOLD movement is to use the arts, education, and action to celebrate women-centered birth, honor diversity, and create space for women and families to make empowered choices about their birth experiences. For more information visit http://www.boldaction.org/

Birth is based on over one hundred interviews with mothers across the country. Through 8 individual stories, the show paints a portrait of how women are giving birth in America today. The play will be followed by a facilitated discussion with the audience and several members of the birth community. There will also be an opportunity for community members to share their own birth stories (Red Tent Event.)

The purpose of the BE BOLD Birth Fair is to bring local businesses and organizations together in one location that can offer families services and products related to family, pregnancy, birth and parenting.  We have some exciting vendors from all around the valley.  Stay after the first performance, or come early before the second performance.  Enjoy some home made snacks from our concessions stand, get a henna tattoo, shop for some exciting items and meet some new people.
