The Crucifixion

The Intense Sufferings of Our Lord

Our Lord showed me His life on earth from His Birth to His Resurrection. I will add a few of the details here.

The Journey into Jerusalem

I stood among cheering crowds waving palm fronds as Our Lord rode through the gate of the city. The people were joyous in their welcome. The holy Apostles were walking just behind Our Lord.

I then saw Our Lord teaching in His Temple, while people who loved Him were gathered to listen. There were crowds in Solomon's Portico.

The Anointing by Mary

I watched Our Lord, seated at table in the home of Lazarus and his sisters, Martha and Mary. The holy Apostles were seated along the sides, Judas among them with Our Lord at the end in the place of honour. Mary came into the room and opening the flask, stood behind Our Lord and gently anointed His hair with Oil of Nard, using both hands. Judas objected and was told 'She is anointing Me for burial'. Oil of Nard is a beautiful fragrance, light and similar to myrrh.

The Last Supper

I saw the upper room and the disciples seated at table with the Lord. The meal was almost over when He handed the bread to Judas with the words, 'Do what you have to do'. Judas left the room. He was wearing a red coat, the colour of the Romans. Our Lord then girded His waist with a linen cloth, and with a bowl of water, washed the feet of His disciples.

The symbolism is perhaps not fully understood. He was at that time removing from His chosen ones any part of this world with its evil values and desires. These  men were to be part of Heaven, messengers of Divinity, and as such could not be tarnished with anything that came from this world and was ruinous to souls. The values of the world were the product of Satan and holy Law was abandoned in the great brutality of the time. Men in authority had taken the role of God for themselves, ignoring the True God and following Satan. The teaching of the High Priests was wrong and the people were being greatly misled. The Law, as they taught it, had no heart, for they made the people live by rules which were not of Heaven. God's Law is the Law of Love and here it was the Law of the High Priests and the Romans. The 'whitewashed sepulchres' is a good description of them. These men who were teaching were themselves corrupt and therefore could not teach anything but corruption of soul. In order to teach holiness and respect for, and love of, God, one must first be holy. One's motives and heart must be pure and surrendered in the service of holy love, as was the case with the Apostles. Because of the corruption that had invaded the Temple, Our Lord had now chosen twelve new 'teachers of Israel', men whose integrity could not be doubted. That Judas chose to follow Satan we know.

The Mount of Olives

I watched Our Lord praying on the Mount of Olives overcome with grief while His disciples slept,  and His arrest when the soldiers arrived with cudgels and much noise. Our Lord remained calm. At the High Priest's house I saw Simon Peter waiting in the courtyard with Saint John the Divine nearby. I was shown too Saint Peter denying Christ and Christ turning to look at him.

In the Sanhedrin I witnessed a temple guard strike Our Lord very brutally in the face, accusing Him of insulting the High Priest. His nose bled with the force of the blow, on His left cheek. After that I saw Our Lord standing before Herod, refusing to answer him. Then again being questioned by Pilate. I saw and heard the screaming mob outside the window. Like a pack of savage hounds baying for blood, incited by the Temple authorities.

The Scourging

In a large open space, surrounded by walls, the earth was sandy, there were many Roman soldiers. Our Lord was ordered to disrobe and the soldier beside Him then kicked him very brutally on His left side almost breaking His ribs. There was a post, a pillar made, I think, of wood, to which Our Lord's hands were tied. The brutal attack of the scourge struck Our Lord's back twenty times, drawing blood and removing the flesh in places. The beating had been very severe, the mockery no less severe. They robed Him in the red cloak of a Roman, placed the Crown of Thorns on His head, pressing it tightly so that it caused severe pain and bleeding, placed in His right hand a small stick in place of a Roman symbol of authority and hurled abuse at Him. Unable to move for the pain and exhausted by the beating, He was dragged by the hair across the long length of this yard to where the Cross was waiting.

The Crucifixion

I cannot describe the horror of what was happening. The most brutal act of all time was taking place. Love Itself was being mocked, abused, beaten, spat upon, subjected to every insult and violent physical hatred that Satan can give and He responded only with Love and Prayer. 'Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do'. The crowd were even more vicious in their attacks, pouring hatred on hatred, as did the Romans. The words used were appallingly vulgar and cruel. The violence of The Crucifixion is the worst violence of all history.

Our Lord was again ordered to disrobe and led by their Captain, three soldiers hammered three large nails into first the left palm, then the right and finally His feet. The Cross was raised and fixed into a slot in the ground. The soldiers cast lots for His clothing and joined the crowd in their jeering mockery. Our Lady, accompanied by Her friends, stood at the foot of the Cross, weeping. For three long and agonising hours Our Lady's eyes never left Our Lord's face. She endured agony with Her beloved Son.

When His last breath was drawn and Our Lord had died, it was Saint John and Saint James [another James, not his brother] who climbed up to the Cross and gently removed the body of Our Lord from that place of hellish torture. They carried Him to the tomb, inconsolable in their grief. They placed His body on the ground and Our Lady cradled Him in Her arms, weeping, while Saint Elizaveta and Saint Mariam did the same. Their hearts were broken, their tears falling on Our Lord's face. They held Him close and kissed Him. The Blessed Holy Shroud was placed on the stone ledge, Our Lord's body was lifted gently onto it, and it was Our Lady alone who prepared Our Lord for burial, washing the face of Her beloved Son with her own tears, kissing Him with all the love of His most grief stricken Mother, just as She had done when She had so gently removed the cruel Crown of Thorns from His head as He was removed from the Cross.

When He asked for water, they gave him vinegar to drink. When He asked for love, they Crucified Him. When He forgave them, that their souls might not perish in the Abyss, they mocked again.

At the Tomb

I was shown Saint Mary Magdalene hurrying along a path to the Tomb in the very early dawn on Sunday, carrying in her hands the oils for anointing the dead. I entered the Holy Tomb, empty now except for two cloths neatly folded where the body of Our Lord had been laid and sitting beside them a radiant holy angel who gestured to me to look outside. When I left the Tomb I could see Saint Mary Magdalene speaking to the man she thought was the gardener, his head was covered. Then I watched Saint Peter and Saint Philip hurrying into the tomb. It was these good men who removed the Blessed Holy Shroud to safety. Our Lord's Blessed Holy Shroud is now in Turin Cathedral, Italy. This is the true burial shroud of Our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Meeting with the Holy Apostles

I was shown the Meeting on the road to Emmaus, and Christ 'disappearing from their midst'. I then saw the room where the holy Apostles had gathered when Christ suddenly appeared to them. They were consumed with grief, and when  Saint Thaddeus, who was absent at the time, was told of this great miracle he could not believe it. His grief was so great. Later he  believed.
