A big Yorkshire ey up to all our Blogists and a warm welcome to June's juicy jaunts. We hope you are sitting comfy because this could take some time. This June has been rather busy!!!
First up its Derby day at Epsom, a gorgeous hot sunny day made up for the ridiculously early start.. 5am away from York! On the same bill as the lads were none other than Bucks Fizz! Still on the go and dead nice folks to boot. Weird band of the day award definitely goes to Sheila's wheels, yes it WAS the girls off the telly.. and they did sing the advert song! Ray Quinn of X Factor fame was also there but by the time he took to the stage the boys were long gone.
The 9th the lads take the Bogus charabanc off to Scarborough for fish n chips.. Oh and a return gig for Breast Cancer research at the Spa Ocean Room. Apart from the excellent fish supper and friendly staff, the highlight of the evening must be the incredibly egotistical Shirley Bassey tribute act on before us, she seemed to think she actually was the bejewelled welsh songstress herself! Check this out.. First of all she refuses to speak to anyone, everybody has to communicate with her through her manager, then she insists on having the whole stage area cleared before she will go on, then complains to the organisers about having to use the same toilet as the other acts.. I.E. Us !! (do we smell or something?-ed).. (well, yes actually.. Anon). So anyway, she finally succeeded in annoying the clients so much they told her just to get on with it and all our gear stayed where it was :-) tee hee.. Slej and Gibbo sneaked a look at her act and she wasn't even that good, Tsch!
Next outing is a 3 day mini break to Holland, first stop Eindhoven for a quick beer in our favourite watering hole, Cafe Wilhelmina where the Bogus have gigged regularly for over 10 years. Then on to the first of the gigs, a birthday party for one of the bands most loyal fans, Yolanda Reintjes whose help selling merchandise at Bogus gigs along with Marina and Sabrina has been greatly appreciated over the last year, thanks Yo. A great night was had by all and Yo gives Slej his P45 by looking far better on stage than him whilst playing a few songs with the boys. Several sherberts and a good kip later, (no, not a chicken you fool Marina) (sorry, for the uninitiated kip is Dutch for chicken)! And its off to Hengevelde about 2 hours to the north east for 2 nights headlining the Hofdaagen festival. Well, the 2 gigs couldn't have been more different! The first was shall we say, interesting.. To elaborate, there was only one poor guy on the sound, who tried his best but was hopelessly outnumbered by enemy forces in the shape of technical difficulties! The icing on the cake was that the whole stage was covered with loose carpet tiles, which as soon as the lads tried to do the show, went flying in all directions leaving various Boguses (Bogi)? Slipping all over the stage like so many eels at a banana skin convention.. Still, the hotel, food and after show party were top quality.
The 2nd night showed every likelihood of turning out the same way, first the stage manager didn't turn up and consequently the whole show ended up running more than 1 hour late.. Plus some cheeky little blighter snook backstage and had made off with some of the boys' stage gear, I.E. Scottish hats. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer though.. He later turns up in the front row wearing it whereupon after being spotted by eagle eye Rudi, a wily Maka leans over ostensibly to shake his hand, and triumphantly whips the hat back! Anyway, despite numerous delays the boys take to the stage for what turned out to be one of the best gigs of the year so far. Not content with this, the boys back scuttle via Torquay, on the english riviera to squeeze an extra gig in on the way home. Ironically, for the association of emergency planning committees.. Whose members were partying to the Bogus beat till 2am, whilst the rest of the country grappled with freak storms and major flooding! Hmmm..
After a few days off to recover and a couple of corporate gigs, its back on the road again. This time for a two gigs in one day marathon (actually its Snickers nowadays-ed)! First one in Sevenoaks in Kent, though since the storm damage a few years back its known as Fiveandabitoaks. (Titter) Its another charity bash, this time for a local hospice, and another encounter with a stroppy support act. This time its cabaret singers.. Who use up all our soundcheck time going over and over the same three songs. Then threaten to charge the clients extra because the event is running slightly late! Come closer, there's more.. Apparently the changing room isn't up to scratch either, the floor's wet. Hmmm.. Its in a tent and its been raining heavily for several hours.. Whaddaya expect?! So mucho effing and blinding later they go out, perform one set and then refuse to do any more! Reason being the P.A. Speakers are positioned throughout the marquee but too close to the tables, so the guests are unplugging them to keep the noise down. The net result is the sound is dreadful and the singers can't hear themselves. So they pack up and take their ball home!.. I ask you.. Its just not cricket is it? Needless to say they won't be rebooked for next year! After a plate of shepherds pie and a game of tennis in the dark (eh)? The boys take to the stage to find an audience desperate to have a good time.. And we kept them on their collective feet for the whole 2 hour set. Nice one. No rest for the wicket.. Sorry, wicked. Its that cricket metaphor creeping in again, as soon as the gear is back in the van its straight off to Shropshire for the Harper Adams agricultural college summer ball. Its raining this year and it rained last year.. What a pair of slippery wet balls they were.. (can you say that?-ed) still, its a great gig. The boys arrive just in the nick of time.. From deepest Kent at 2am.. to onstage in the wild west of Shropshire at 6am, whew! Surprisingly lots of bedraggled students still standing at that time in the morning after what must have been some heavy night.. Its a scene reminiscent of Glastonbury with Tuxedo and ballgown clad people everywhere, soaked to the skin and up to their knees in mud! Amazingly as the lads take to the stage the crowd seems to double in size and all assembled go bezerk to a raucous Bogus set, complete with stage invasions every few minutes as Bemused, tired security staff try in vain to keep them at bay! Top marks also to the crew who managed not only to do an exemplary job for us on the sound, but were cheerful to boot. And lets not forget the affable if a little bit drunk Paul, for hot tea and Bacon Butties on arrival.. Hurrah!.... All in a days work for the crazy madcap Bogus boys (but don't expect them to answer their phones the day after, zzz...)
Blimey its been a busy month, and its not over yet.. Next stop Windsor races, another in a long line of benefit gigs for Clic Sargent, cancer and Leukaemia charity. Torrential rain all day and the going was not measured in firm to soft, but shallow to deep! Over £250,000 raised and a fun gig, with our very special guest stars, on drums Mr Eddie Jordan and on vocals, Mr Barry McGuigan great job chaps. Interesting journey home though as the worst June weather on record saw many roads closed and Sheffield completely cut off.
We're working every night now for the next two weeks, so there's no rest for the wicked! Its off to the gig, play, drive home, sleep until its time to leave for the next gig, off to the next gig.. Etc etc.
Tuesday took us to the Manchester Hilton for a show for The Trading Standards Agency .. Not many people in a huge room making it very hard for the boys to create any kind of show. Never the less we did what we always do and gave it that little bit more than most a finally had the dance floor full. Great feed and bumped into a ex member of the band The Sharp Cuts. These 2 crazy cats turned up the day before because they had the wrong date.. Luckily they had the next night free so they could still do the gig
Its Wednesday.. So it must be Leeds. Royal Armouries have built a big new flash concert and conference venue next to the museum and the lads are first choice to open it! Its a storming place and its named after Leeds' greatest son Sir Jimmy Savile, who of course dropped by in his pink limo to officially declare the building open. The boys all agree Jimmy is the nicest bloke you could ever meet, and its an honour to share the stage with him for a couple of songs. The guy's a true star. Another surprise is meeting most of the cast of Emmerdale who were also guests at the event. (calm down Gibbo, tee hee..) Oh, for the benefit of our European Bloglings Emmerdale is a British soap opera with an extraordinarily high quota of beautiful women in the cast.. All of which were there! Hmmm... Big shout to Adele S and Verity.. Yum Yum!!!
June 28th and with tiredness just starting to creeping the boys head off to Solihull near Birmingham to perform at the Renaissance Hotel for Experian the credit search people. We were very well looked after but the gig was again difficult as the buses to take people home arrived 15 minutes into our set (brilliant!) but we overcame and conquered, winning over the crowd that stayed and managed to convince them that they where allowed to party, which they did!
Finally Bogus get a day off which is royally spoilt by a quick afternoon rehearsal. No other time to fit one in due to our hectic schedule. This is a very important time for the band as you will see in next months blog. We had to schedule this practice in to rehearse for the Miss Chinese beauty
Contest. It was the UK heat and is due to be show on the national TV network in China.. A big deal for us and who knows where this will lead.
More on this in the July Blog.
Saturday night watches the band take the stage in a Marquee in someone's back garden for their 50th birthday party and 25th wedding anniversary. Great night trying out all our new gear that we bought after the rehearsal the day before. All new guitars foe Nico and Slej, New drums for Gibbo and a paint job on Rudi's keyboard. All good fun watching our faces looking like kids with new toys.. (musicians… forever young). All who attended this lovely social gathering of friends looked to have a ball despite the continuous smoke machine.. I think the machine was rebelling against the forth coming smoking ban… cough cough!!! The band set off for and over night drive to Switzerland for one gig.. To be continued..
Well that rounds up June, But just cos the Blog stops here the band did not.. They carried on playing the Swiss gig, travelled back, played Glasgow, two nights in Ireland and then finished off the onslaught with two shows in Hull.
Be sure you'll hear all about those crazy nights next month.

Mays comings and goings
Hi to all Bogus Blogus readers, and another set of silly goings on from the boys.
First gig of the month is the Hilton Metropol in Birmingham for our old friend, John Kirton.. Yes that's right john.. emphasis on the "old"! Its an awards dinner for British Nuclear Fuels.. The boys try desperately not to play Atomic by Blondie or to sing "Angel works at Sellafield" instead of "Angel is the Centrefold"! Another Lasagne for dinner, par for the course at John's gigs :-) but very nice all the same. Always a bit of a leap of faith when the band can't set up until after the dinner and awards are finished, but without so much as a soundcheck the lads deliver another tight and polished set and call a finish to the night.
A few days hard earned rest and the band are en route to Portugal, to play for ING Bank's top 100 sales people from the U.S.A. Leaving behind a rainy and cold England via picturesque Luton airport! The lads check in to possibly the best hotel in the world, Penha Longa near Cascais. About 30km from Lisbon. A short ride into town and a huge feed of Piri Piri Chicken in the John Bull then after a few sleepy beers in the Hotel bar, its off to bed. The next day there's nothing to do but lie in the sun by the pool and relax.. Oh well! Later after a pleasant walk round the hotel grounds and Cascais the lads power through a 2hr set which keeps the dance floor full throughout. Then its off to the bar 'til 4am to sample a few more of the delicious local "Super Bock" beers.. All in a days work!
Back in England the next gig is something a bit different. Its an early evening performance for the staff and patients at the Queen Elizabeth Psychiatric Hospital in Birmingham. A select audience of around 30 people who thoroughly enjoyed the evening, the feeling was mutual. Its such a rewarding experience for us to be able to bring live music to people who may not have seen a band in over 20 years. A big thanks to Liz and all the staff at QEPH for tea and biscuits and enthusiasm, and to the patients for their appreciation. Gear back in the bus and its off to Holyhead to catch the overnight ferry to Ireland for a wedding. The K club, county Kildare was the venue for this, home of the Ryder cup golf tournament in Ireland and a very nice place it is indeed! Another smooth operation by the boys and with a storming virgin outing for "Save the last dance for me" (Michael Buble version) as requested for the first dance by the bride and groom. Thanks to Brian and the girls at the K club for the Guinness and sausages after the gig, shame about Ireland's last place in the Eurovision though, eh?! Tee hee :-) Smooth ferry crossings both ways and an easy drive back then its a couple of well earned days off for the band.
Wednesday 16th sees the boys back on home turf at the Majestic hotel Harrogate, for the Toymaster annual convention. Bit of a shock to see 200 Santa Clauses in May! But hey, who says Christmas parties have to be in December?
Saturday morning and its a 4.30am start for the boys's to catch a flight to Dublin for the annual Tesco Ireland charity ball. At the sumptuous City West hotel. The third year running for the Bogus, but this time its the tenth anniversary of Tesco in Ireland and they've pushed the boat out. Also on the bill are ABC, the Bay City Rollers, Hot Chocolate, Noel Edmonds and Shane Ward of X Factor fame. And of course not forgetting our favourites, Pink Champagne! Seriously, check em out, they're fab! Its a truly lavish occasion and all the bands played storming sets with a game of Deal or no Deal in between acts presented of course by Noel himself. After no more than 2 hours sleep its off to the airport to catch the first flight back and a short drive to Bocking in Essex, for the Barmitzphah of Curtis Green. This was a truly brilliant day and the lads enjoyed the gig tremendously. Clive and Alison couldn't have looked after us better and Simon the toastmaster deserves a shout out for his friendly, efficiency in running the event, and interesting singing on havarnagila!
Next up its the annual convention of HEFMA (Healthcare Estates & Facilities Management Association) in Blackpool. Another successful evening and a dressing room full of sofas! Thanks Ann for your generous hospitality and the Hilton gets a mention for the most pointless goods lift in the country :-)
The next show has become one of the most forgetful for the lads. It took us to a Marquee in Sutton Coldfield near Birmingham.. Don't get us wrong the event was organised with amazing efficiency and the marquee was decked out to the theme of James Bond.. It looked amazing with Jeff from corporate occasions managing what promised to be a great event.. However, in order to have a great night with a band you need an audience that takes an interest in what you are doing.. Sadly the crowd did not want to know.. String Mania who was on before Bogus had warned us of the afore mentioned crowd but we didn't realise just how bad it was.. With true Bogus style we choose to hit em head on and finally we got a full dance floor .. One for the boys there Ed..
That gig forgotten the lads took off to a local show in Harrogate.. The Barmitzma of Zack.. Encountered the now legendary Jonny G the DJ come so called event organiser.. (really!!!!!).. The lads had great night trying out a very unrehearsed entrance with Zack on Makas shoulders and the rest of the band marching along to the tune of 500 miles.. To the bands amazement it worked really well and we're sure we'll be doing it again.. However, if anyone saw us in the dressing room just before we went on they'd of seen nothing but panic.. I must explain… Bogus, a very pro outfit, always ready on time, never late.. So as we are almost finishing getting ready, Jonny G chooses to start the event five minutes early.. We had to go like the clappers and rush to get to our places ready for the march.. With some shirt buttons left undone we just made it.. Phew!! Met and shared the dressing room with two break dancers from London.. Great blokes and a big shout to ya both.
The gear packed and launched into the van we drove through the night too Hilfenebeek in Holland to play the last Elastiek Festival.. Wow, What can I say.. A truly awesome night with the band on some of the best form they've ever been on.. At some points in the show the10000 strong crowd was louder than the band.. In some ways an emotional night for some as it's the bands fave festival in Holland.. Thanks to everyone involved and there's two many names to list you all.. We have made many fans and friends from this gig and are really sad to see it go, but we're sure we'll see you al at other shows across Holland. A great after show party and a few hours sleep later sees the band start the long trip from Holland to Dublin.
We arrive at Leopards Town Race Course to a find a very wet outdoor stage.. Very slippery and if the rain didn't stop it would mean no gig.. A disaster for Bogus as we always want to play but it also needs to safe.. After conversations between managements it was decided that a call would be made at four thirty in the afternoon as what the next move would be.. After coffee and laughs time pasted and it went a head but if it rained at nine the show would be pulled. No rain meant a happiness for all concerned and the show went on.. Got a bit cold for the boys later in the set but nothing these lads can't handle.. Great show and we'll see all you race goers again on the fourth of July for more of the same but in warmer conditions we hope..
Keep Looking on our web site and the others like youtube and myspace for latest vids and news.. itunes, napster, emusic for down loads and if you're a Dutch fan keep your eyes open for our forth coming Dutch fan site..
Until next time.. Enjoy

Sadly we've not much to report this month due to some well earned rest after the onslaught of March…
The first stop of the month took us to Holland for a show in Den Hout called Passpop.. Big production in a huge marquee all spells a big night for the crowd and we didn't let them down.. We took the place apart for the headline band WC Experience.. Great to make some new friends and fans and thank you for all the photos and emails..
After a weeks resting and doing mostly admin work back in our UK and Ireland offices we set off to Dublin for a huge show in The City West Hotel for another Royal Bank of Scotland award dinner.. Great to hook up with the crew from the last few RBS gigs and Damo one our fondest Irish DJ's. Also a good chance for Maka to practice his Golf swing out on the course of the Hotel.. With Maka and Derek Hogan taking the winners medal over Jim Waterson, Keith Lawrence from Lawrence Creative with a 75 foot putt.. (we didn't see it happen so we only have maka's word it was 75 foot..) As always the lads finished the night off in true Bogus style having the dance floor rocking.
Manchester G-mex was the next stop for the lads.. RSVP North, an exhibition for the events industry.. Great to see all the usual exhibitors and lots of new ones too… Highlight of the two days was the party that we had the pleasure of playing.. Thanks to all the staff at Manchester 235 casino for your help in what became a great party and the next time we're in Manchester we'll drop in for a pint and a play on the slots…
The last weekend in April started with a private party in a wonderful house in London.. It was the joint 45th birthday party and 20th wedding anniversary of Rhodie and Tim.. Thank you for your hospitality and congratulations on you anniversary… Great sandwiches by the way…
After the Party we had an over night drive to Aarle Rixtel in Holland for a very hot and sweaty show in the Café Zaal with our good friends Martin and Cherri.. Great night despite the moving stage which Nico fell off in sound check… Could have been worse, It could have been Maka falling off and that just wouldn't do.. It would ruin his hair!!!!
A short nights sleep took us to Rijen in Holland for Stitching Juin festival.. As we arrived we were Greeted by Will the festival organiser and Franz the stage manager.. We received our instructions for the day's events and chilled out back stage listened to the great sounds of a new young Dutch band Shit Happenz.. The Boys took to the stage in rock star fashion, whipped up a riot and left it once more for the Headline band to clean up the mess.. Thanks to all involved with the evening and we hope to see you all very soon…
Finally and huge thanks must go to Marina, Yolanda and Sabina for selling our Merchandise..
Thanks for taking the time to read our blog and in a break with tradition here instead of the top ten we proudly present the Pat McGarry top five faux pas! (for the benefit of our European readers a faux pas is a moment of unbelievable stupidity at which our beloved singer excels)!
1, 'Where's me Salopettes?' (he's standing in the hotel room looking for his favourite leg wear on tour…. Devastated that he can't find them anywhere… when Slej informs him he's wearing them! Buffoon J
2, 'Can you spend Deutsch Marks in Holland?' Needs no explanation..
3, 'How many s's in Pizza?' Again fairly obvious.. But really, I ask you….
4, 'Where's me phone/sunglasses' (it's getting worse, Ed……).
5, 'Its full to the bottom!!!' Whilst playing a show for Mars confectionery, Pat discovers a huge bin of chocolate bars in the dressing room… free for all to help themselves. And its full, right to the bottom!
Disclaimer. All events described and views are not necessarily those of the management… Mr McGarry's legal representation denies all of the above claims! (the rest of the lads just say he's blonde).
Hi and welcome to what has become the busiest month of the year for the lads..
So sit back and enjoy reading this month frolics across Europe..
The 1st of march took the lads to the NOEA annual ball at Chateau Impney Near Birmingham.. Not much to report other than the carvery, lovely staff at the hotel…
After an overnight drive through France and Germany then into Austria, the madness really began on the 6th when the long awaited European tour kicked in. Bierhimml was the first stop… A great club in the middle of a busy ski resort filled with skiers from around the globe got fully entertained by the boys followed by a few pints after the show to mark the start of the tour and of things to come pretty much every night. Cheers Armin for the late night Kebab.
Linz was our second stop, one of the Bogus Brothers favourites on any tour.. A sold out Cheeese club saw the boys rip through their set and really take the paint off the walls with a crowd that's always happy to rise to the occasion.. Great to see some old friends like Pia and some of the Black Wings Ice Hockey team.. But special thanks must go to the new owners of Cheeese for really making the effort to look after us and keeping us in a supply of beer throughout the evening.. Great after show party as well, beer was gargled…
Hochgurgl was the next stop, A few miles up the mountain from Solden in the Hotel Riml.. A wonderful setting, great hotel with some of our favourite staff.. Once again the night was shared with skiers from all over the place and the chaps showed them how to party Bogus style.. As always we were looked after by Annaliese for whom nothing is to much trouble.. Not much sleep was had by the boys due to an early start to drive back down the mountain to the next show
Shows four and five started with a seven in the morning departure from Hotel Riml so we could be at the ski lift in Solden for highest load in of our careers. 2284 meters up a mountain.. Assisted by Christoph who the band introduce as the Best gay DJ in Austria (He's not girls) the gear reaches the stage with nothing missing. Its an open air gig in the cold at Giggijoch. A great setting to perform as the chaps watch the skiers come down from the piste, Get themsleves a Gluhwein and watch Bogus go mental. Great to see some old friends like Angelica, Robert and Katrina.. Oh, and thanks for the chocolate.. The real bonus for our Slej is that it's a good opportunity for a run out on his snowboard. No broken bones….. yet!!!
A quick change and its back into the van for a two hour drive to Zardinis in Waidring.. A venue where the bar was bigger than the room.. The lads soon put their tiredness to one side and took the crowd to another level.. After a long day the Bogus took the chance for any early night.
Disco Tanzbar Lohn was the next club to be ripped to pieces by the lads.. Marianne Showed the us the ropes, fed and watered us and we repayed her with a monster show. Despite the Questionable music after the gig the boys enjoyed a late night (or early morning, which ever way you look at it), especially enjoying Nico's karaoke.. Well done that man.
Two days off followed so the chaps drove to Vienna.. Gibbo, Slej and Nico got cultural in a Art Gallery and then got Drunk.. What else do you do on ya days off Ed??
We continued our Vienna stay with a Show in an Irish Bar owned by our good friend Seb.. Sorry to here that ya ill Seb, you get yourself fit for the next time we visit. What a show this turned out to be.. Total full on entertainmant, Maka on the form of his life raising his game once again.. Great to see everyone and meet some new friends.. A big shout to Lanny and Kim from the UK for making the effort..
Back to Solden for a show up another mountain Gaislachkogl.. This is the night ski show done by the ski instructors.. Basically sking at night.. Great fun to watch the world snowboard champion Benny fall over. Big firework display followed and Bogus closed the evening. The night didn't stop there… Bogus invited the crew and staff from the gig out for a few beers to celebrate Nico's birthday.. Beer and shots later the boys returned to their hotel a little worse for wear with Gibbo taking the Brown Bottle award…
Werkstatt in Imst was the next stop.. Had a blast had a drink with friends Like Michi, Petra, The crazy Barbara and friends. Thanks for supper at the Werkstatt.. Full fat deep fried food is a must at that time in the morning, With diet Coke.. Hehehe.
Once again we took ourselves back to Giggijoch.. Same routine as the week before.. We all so took on a second show again in the same day.. George @ Joes was the final stop of Austria (boo hoo Ed).. Sadly we had to leave all of our friends like Marcel and the lads, Marion and Diane from Germany.
Another over night and difficult drive took us to London for a show at the Natural History Museum for a Mr Kelly. The lads stood back and watched the amazing crew transform the museum into a fantastic setting for Mr Kelly's party.. A big shout goes out to Mustard catering for the amazing buffet and a gig party was had by all..
The Final leg took Bogus back to Holland for a show in Eindhoven in the Café Wilhelmina with Koos the Goose our fave Dutch sound engineer. Wonderful to see Marina and friends, Dennis and co, Yolanda and Anneka and I know you had a great time watching Rudi's nakedness and his sock hiding his bits.. Let it be said that this show was the longest encore of the tour.. We loved the whole gig and thanks to everyone involved..
The Boys made it home safe and sound for a three day rest and recover before completing a series of shows in the UK.
Edinburgh, Birmingham Lincoln and London was served up a similar feast of entertainment….
One of the highlights of the month was two shows in two countries in twenty four hours.. A one in the morning departure from York followed by a short flight to Amsterdam and a one hour drive to Oosterhout, Holland saw the first show of the day to launch the sale of tickets for the forthcoming Parkfeest in the summer.. Part two of the day saw the reverse trip back to the UK with a show in the Majestic Hotel in Harrogate.. Thanks to Easy Jet for keeping us on time, Jet2 for running out of time to serve Pat and Gibbo their coffee and Pringles and Simon and Owen for the driving and setting up the gear..

On top of this we did do a couple of other shows, one of which was the Birthday party for the Chairman of the Skipton Building society. A very close up and personal gig in the wonderful Rudding Park Hotel. A good chance for the chaps to catch up with Phil Vincent the DJ and enjoy the delights of being very well looked after by the Hotel staff..
The other show being at The London Hilton Metropole Hotel for a a chain Photography companies.. After a long day of awards and dinner, the crowd reconvened in the main hall to get whipped into shape by The Bogus Brothers. As always, we kicked behind leaving John Kerton a very happy event organiser. Thanks John for looking after us so well.. Its Gibbo's round the next time we meet for a pint..
Finally the boys turned up at Earls Court in London for Three days of intense promotion at the Confex Exhibition.. Another Exhibition that The Bogus Brothers choose to attend due to its class and well organised management.. Huge Thanks to Tony for making sure we could be out of the event as soon as possible and to Duncan and all his staff and Kerry for looking after us at the exhibition party that Bogus performed a roof lifting, floor shaking, trouser flapping, hair raising and all round awesome performance…The party was in the amazing Café De Paris in central London and we we're well looked after by Andy and his team. We took this opportunity to shoot some footage for possible release later in the year.. Lots of work to do on it yet and we may edit in some back stage and some on tour footage to give you all a taste of life on the road with Bogus.. I'm pretty sure it will be a limited addition to start with, but watch this space. Be sure myspace will be one of the first to know…
On the 5th of March the Fellas head off for the long awaited European tour… We're looking forward to every show (as the boys always do Ed) and can't wait to see all of you at a show.. Check out our websites for details of the shows.. Be sure that they will be a full tour report posted in April and I'm sure they'll be plenty to report.
All of those other fans from around the world, keep sending those emails, and we will see you soon.
Be good and take care.
The Bogus Brothers
Jänner Blog
Hi all and a Happy new year from The Bogus Brothers.
We'll start this months Blog with an apology for the late Delivery of the Jan blog.
So off we go…
The Year ended with Bogus doing a show in at Drax near Selby on the 30th of December.. We Used this local show as a show case for our new image in front of family,, friends and long term fans of the band.. We can't say too much just yet because the official release date has not been announced.
December 31st and the new year's eve blowout at Royal Armouries Leeds. A cracking gig and a huge success for all concerned. This one also marked the last of our Christmas run of gigs at the Armouries, and the band would like to give a big shout out and many thanks to the whole crew at Leeds for their hard work and warm hospitality throughout the month. To Jim, (no I don't look a bit like Robbie Coltrane) Shaz, n Raz (no relation) and not forgetting Claire (nooo.. not turkey again!!).
Christmas festivities over, the band return on Jan 2nd for a wedding in Dublin in the presence of the former Irish prime minister, Bertie Aherne. What a fantastic house to hold it in, all went well except for the slight miscalculation in scale on the clear plastic stage… very small, semicircular and hard to perform on!
Thanks to Stena line for getting us across the Irish sea in conditions somewhat reminiscent of the movie "The Perfect Storm" There were seamen running all over the deck and the boat was up and down like a bride's nightie.
After business trips to Los Angeles and New York the band reconvened at the Grosvenor House Hotel London, for the annual awards dinner of the Jockey club, (The Lesters).
All the top jockeys were there, Peter O'Sullivan, Carl Llewellin, and legendary footballers Ray Parlour and England under 21 manager Stuart Pearce. Along with TV personalities John McCrirrick, Fraser Hines and Claire King (from Emmerdale).
This brings us to this month's top ten… which of course is Equestrian!
So here's the runners and riders…
Black betting, Ram Jam,
Brown Shergar, Rolling Stones,
This ol' horse, Shakey,
When the "going" gets tough, Billy Ocean
You canter hurry love, Philly Collins
Colt as ice, Foreigner
Foal for your loving, Whitesnake
Hay Ya, Outkast
Against all odds, Philly Collins
Hoof are you, The Who-of.
Or anything by Jockey Wilson. Took some doing did that Ed.. You try and find some.. Send them in to us.
After a few days off the chaps took on a short journey to Scarborough for a show for a cards and packaging exhibition party.. Once our food finally arrived (after an hour, and a comedian)Bogus launched into their famous, partying style to bring the party to a climax…
After the show Rudi and Nico had to make a very sharp get away so they'd arrive in Wiesbaden in time to start the Launch of our brand new office based in Hamburg Germany.. Why Wiesbaden if the office is Hamburg, I hear you ask?? In a nutshell, Wiesbaden hosts the "World of Events" exhibition , a three day event that promotes anything to do with live events in the corporate industry… Three days of selling the band basically… Nico had a near miss with a tile that had blown off the roof in those dangerous high winds.. It landed on a flash sports car so I'm told… So bad were the winds that the exhibition was closed early so people could get home.. Sadly for Ursula (our new German office manager) had to spend an extra night in Frankfurt due to the trains not running.. Bless her..
However, there was no stopping our Rudi and Nico, they hot footed it across Europe, to meet Maka, Slej and Gibbo at The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.. This was the start of five shows every Friday for The Royal Bank of Scotland award dinners. Two in London and single shows in Manchester, Glasgow and finishing in Birmingham on the 16th of Feb. Its shows of three forty five minute sets performing on a stage made to look like a cruise liner, complete with seagulls
hanging from the roof and all sorts cruise related items on the tables from captain"s hats to huge sunglasses. All so far have gone very well and a special thanks must go to all the Crew working for Your Events and…. Your Hospitality will be remembered for many years.. The atmosphere at all shows has been fantastic and everybody has partied hard until the early morning.
We had another short hop over to Ravenscar near Scarborough for the wedding of Mr and Mrs Dale…It turned out that the Groom had seen the band play at St Johns College 10 years ago and had said to himself that if he ever got married, Bogus was going to be the band that played the reception. True to his words he found us and booked us… You couldn't ask to meet a more perfect couple and they both looked after us wonderfully .. It looked like everybody had a great night and plenty of booze was consumed in true Yorkshire fashion and the buffet was the dogs bits (not literary Ed, I mean it was awesome food). A rough drive home for Maka in Artic conditions as Yorkshire got is first snow of the winter…
Keep your eyes open for those of you over in Austria, We have just released the tour dates that kicks off in March for two weeks.. The boys can't wait to get out there with you to rock your socks off and have a beer with you all.. I'm sure Nico and Slej won't finish after just one beer… more like a few dozen.. I'll keep you posted on the brown bottle award on that tour and we'll be keeping an on tour diary that will be posted on myspace at the end of the tour.. If you're all lucky it might make an appearance half way through the tour… Who knows?????
You all Take it easy and keep looking at the websites and the music download site for Unfair Funfair single etc etc.

Dezember Blog
Hi
and welcome once more to what is rapidly becoming a very popular read
for many of our fans.. Thanks for all the emails and comments.. Its
great for the lads to know that people are interested in what goes on
in the Bogus camp.
December sees the boys on their run of nights at Royal Armouries in
There's usually around 650 punters at these gigs and they're all up for a good
time. The best thing about 3 gigs in a row in 1 place is we can leave
all the gear in place.. So its off stage, changed and home before you
can say nebulaclastic (no we don't know what it means either it's a Pat
Maka made up word)! The downside is some kind soul relieved Nige of his
guitar mic one night.. Must have been a fan desperate for a souvenir!
Tuesday
11th and we're at a photo shoot for a new image for the band.. Not
giving anything away yet, but stay tuned! Long days are these photo
shoots and we have to wear a little make up to hide some of the bands
ageing lines. After four hours of standing and posing we're done and
its off to our respective homes with bad backs from so bizarre
positions that Colin Wallwork insists we get ourselves in.. We're
convinced he gets a kick out of it.. Kinky Colin from now on in my book
ed..
Wednesday 12th sees us in

November Blog
Hi once
again and thanks for joining us in our November
The
beginning of the month saw the band play a 21st birthday party
at Camelot! Having arrived early at the venue the lads loaded in, sound checked
the gear and then ran an impromptu rehearsal to tighten up areas of the set
that needed small improvements. This is a regular event in the Bogus camp
because we believe in giving our audience the best possible show. The hunger
pains set in so downing tools we set ourselves in the dressing room awaiting a
fab array of canapés consisting or various Indian dishes. Hot and spicy!!! The
tour bus sure did have a sweet smell to it on the way home I can tell you..
Close to 10pm the first set began in front of an amazing front rows of girls
all dressed in full traditional Indian dress.. An amazing site of so many
different colours… Girls, you did yourselves proud. Oh, the fellas didn't let
the side down either. Less traditional than the girls, but smart all the same..
After a brief break that second set kicked off a frenzy of crazy dancing
bringing the evening to a huge climax.. A big thank you must go out to Sonny
who had the responsibility of organising and overseeing the whole event..
Thanks for looking after us and the tea and coffee at two in the morning was
appreciated.
The next
week was spent in our rehearsal room.. Well, upstairs in in a pub.. Duh,
where else would a band prefer to rehearse? Our rehearsals are quite intense,
the reason is we don't get that much time to learn new material because many
other commitments the band needs to fulfil we got some good new songs going but
you never know if they're gonna work until we get them into a gig.. Lets keep
our fingers crossed that they work.. Most of the time we get it spot on
and it's just a case of finding the right place in the set where it works
best.. In the middle of rehearsals we had a show to do in Covent Garden in
A weekend

The Gig in

from the organiser.. Which was followed up the next night by a gig for Mars at

Last gig of
the month was at The Royal Armouries in
It's a
great place to visit if you're ever in
Well that's
more or less it for this month except to mention that Nico and Slej made the
pilgrimage to the national Music Live event at
Multitudinous
widdling at every turn! We've never seen or heard so many noisy students in one
place… It was like a music shop Saturday afternoon, but multiplied by 10000000!
Notable
high points were the guy from Soulfly (sorry can't remember your name) demoing
for Peavey, fantastic playing and last but definitely not least…… The God of
widdly himself, the master, (Nigel Tuffnel eat your heart out)! MICHEAL ANGELO
BATIA… We kneel before you, we are not worthy, we now have a shrine in the tour
bus to you! Thank you Michael for the inspiration.
Seriously
check him out on you tube, it's amazing.
Tune in
next month for more from the incredulous world of the Bogus Brothers.
A good start to the month you could say, four days in Earls Court. Wow what a building, I'm sure you are well aware of the amount of world class bands that play there. Sadly for us we weren't there in our own right. We had rented a stand at a wedding exhibition, yep, we have to do em to generate more work for ourselves. You will see October becomes quite the month for those sort of things. The first day really consisted of a mad drive from York to London hitting peak time traffic and having little time to set the stand before they closed the venue at 8pm so a quick dash was required. 8pm arrives far too quickly but by the skin of our teeth our stand is complete. A dash over the road to the Ibis Hotel for shower and a feed followed buy a few beers (a few Slej) and bed. The next three days consist of us getting up far too early for a rock and roll band, to basically sell the band, even if they don't think they want us , we know that we are good enough to entertain the hardest of crowds… A saying we have within the band is "failure is not an option" and we never have…We may occasionally get what we call a draw. However its usually an away win… sounds like football terms and that's because it is.
The days at the exhibition are pretty much the same. We play on the stand for 15 minutes every hour playing the Bogus Rat Pack material. It's great fun but very hard on the feet and far too much coffee is consumed during the day and far too much booze is drunk on the evenings.
The highlight of the 4 days was the Gig that was stuck in the middle. On the Saturday Bogus decided it would be fun to play all day in London and at 4pm bail into the tour bus for a drive back to York to play a charity gig for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance… You may be more aware of what this fantastic charity is now after Richard Hammond from Top Gear had his horrific high speed car crash… An awesome night raising thousands of pounds for the charity. Right from the start of the band kicking off the crowd was with us, no bums on seats that night.. Just to spice things up and do our little bit for charity it was decided that we would auction off a chance for a member of the audience to sing with the band… yep it had to be the Robbie classic, "Angels". We raised a tidy sum and were pleased with out of time and out of key performance of the singer.. Great fun and I'm sure we'll auction the chance for someone else to sing with us again .
After the gig we launched the gear into the tour bus and the journey back the London was measured in sleep for Gibbo, Pat and Tony. Heroically , Nico and Slej braved the shocking weather and safely got us back to the Ibis Hotel.
Back at Earls court after very little sleep we played out the final day to the finish, packed the gear away into the bus and the boys once again joined the wonderful London traffic whilst Gibbo enjoyed a first class train journey back to York for a Family party… The lucky bugger, it was gone midnight before the boys walked into there own homes.
Saturday the 7th saw a welcome return for the band for a Drax power station event. A fantastic night in front of a sell out crowd of new and old fans. A note must be made about a couple that travelled from Wakefield that used to come and watch the band years ago.. I hope it was as good as it used to and we didn't disappoint on the entertainment side of things. We loved the night with you all and we are looking forward to the return gig on the 30th of December…The new year bash…
From the 12th to the 15th the band joined another wedding exhibition but this time in the amazing NEC in Birmingham… the usual fun of playing every for 15 minutes, to much coffee etc. The hotel we had the pleasure of one of those Premier inns.. Really nice it has to be said.. The food in the restaurant was first class. Sadly the key cards for the room doors don't match up to the rest of the hotel.. How can you get into your room with a key card that doesn't work.. Poor Nico enjoyed the up and down stairs to reception to make the bloody things work.. Thanks mate.. You saved my legs..( any time - Nico)
A short two nights in our homes brings us to the Showman Show Exhibition.. Yes another!!! However, is one is more suited to what we do.. Its more rock and roll dealing with the festivals side things rather than wedding and corporate event of which we do a lot of in the UK. The bonus of it all is we get to play the Showman show dinner in which most of the exhibitors get together to eat drink and be merry rounding the night off partying hard to The Bogus Brothers… I'm not sure who did the back stage catering but it was fab… Loads of healthy stuff, salads, rice, fish.. Very unusual for Gibbo to be so healthy, his diet consists of mostly pies and pizza.. Belly Busters catering looked after our breakfast for us as the Travel lodge we stayed doesn't do any catering.. Sadly you have to wander over to the nearest services and re-mortgage your house so you can afford one of their over priced yet under-filled sandwiches.
Great to see all the usual contenders at the show. Sunbaba, Le Ginde EVA all the rest of the hard working businesses that put up with our DVD playing the same four minute video over and over again. We get sick of it too, we even hear it in our sleep when we get in to bed on a night.
On the Saturday of that same week took the band on a short trip to Chester to Play a party for Kingfisher marquees. It was their fifty years in business party and wow what a marquee they put up for it.. Very glam it has to be said. We did however have some fun on arrival. It had been raining hard for a few days which had made the ground very soft under foot, the field that the marquee was on did have those great non-slip temporary roads but just wide enough.. Like fools it was decided to risk off-roading in the tour bus… Disaster, as soon as the wheels left the road we were stuck and moving nowhere. Fortunately the farm next door had a tractor to pull us out of our sticky situation and we could carry on with the load in.. After a very efficient sound check by a very good crew and a great sound system we nipped back stage to chill out (and I mean chill in the real sense.. The heating wasn't working when we arrived… A bit nippy you could say). We were greeted by Titan.. I don't know if any of you have come across this machine and if you've not then keep an eye for it… In a nut shell it's a huge robot.. It does twenty minute shows dancing and singing various short clips of songs at the public, amazing sound effects, very realistic movement, all in all a great big toy.. We've seen some of the secrets and I don't want to give away to much about it..
The gig was great and once again the crowd were up for a party despite numbers being a little low because of the weather but never the less, a good night was had by all… Bizarre DJ… Nuff said I think.
Four days later takes the band on an even shorter drive to the wonderful and historic town of Harrogate. It was announced in the van on the way that in the bands twenty year history that surprisingly Bogus have never played in Harrogate's International Conference Centre. Played nearly everywhere else but never this venue and its on our door step.
We had to take a detour to Leeds Bradford Airport to pick up Pat after he'd been on a short trip over to Dublin to do some promo work. We had discovered that the company that we were playing for were called CIPD.. We had no idea what it stood for so we were left to make up our own. As you can imagine, some got a little rude. Great fun and killed an hour of potential boredom . We did find out what it really stood for and yes, it was nothing like our suggestions. Surprising, I hear you say…..
It's always nice when you arrive at a venue that the crew are helpful and have a clear idea of what's going on during the evenings events.. On this occasion everyone was well informed making sure we knew just what we had to do and to top it all off nicely food was ready in our dressing room the moment we opened the door. Always a real bonus as we are always hungry after the drive, load in and sound check.. We're growing lads you know..
The Band played great that night.. Its always great when things just come together. We had one of those nights when things just fell into place and preformed really well… Its rare we have a bad night but we are human after all.. Pat was on great form having the crowd in bits over his sense of humour.. The Buffoon. I must say that the drive home was nice after a rainy load out… Nice and short, a blessing to do a forty minute drive rather than those massive European drives we put ourselves through…
Speaking of which…..
The final weekend consisted of quite an odyssey…
We set off at midnight from York and raced to Rijssen in Holland via the wonderful Euro tunnel . "lucky & Co" is a great club and was packed for a storming gig . Nico and Slej once again won the "Brown bottle" award for after-gig drinking , finishing just in time to board the bus back to England . Unfortunately , the mother of all traffic-jams in Antwerp meant two hours delay and a race against time to get to the Park Lane Hilton Hotel in London . A 30 minute set-up ,quick change and straight on stage meant we snatched an unlikely victory from the probable jaws of defeat once again - another storming gig ! And the food was superb , thanks Danny! The view from the bar on the 27th floor at the Hilton is astounding , as is the price of the beer ! Another "late finish, early start" saw some of the band looking rather dishevelled on the journey to Dublin via Holyhead and a cabin on the boat . The gig at a wedding at the wonderful Dunboyne Castle Hotel was again an absolute stormer and we were really well looked after . Another early start for the ferry home saw us get home knackered but well happy with an intense , successful few days . And rest…….
As I mentioned I would tell you where to down load our single from.... Unfair Funfair can be down loaded from....
Enjoy.xx
