I've always wanted to write a wrestling column, so, here today is my first one:
Greenberg's thoughts: No.1
What is wrong with wrestling today?
There is no excitement anymore. When i watch wrestling today, i merely watch it out of habit.
How did wrestling lose it's way?
When Vince brought WCW.
When Vince brought WCW WWE had achieved it's goal. It purchased the organization that had almost put THEM out of competition. And it only cost them 2 million dollars.
Soon after this, WWE ran the last great show i've ever seen them do-Wrestlemania 17.
And now? They are stuck in such a rut, they feel the need to do 3 ppv's in 3 weeks!
They run a very good show in Raw and a mediocre show in Smackdown!
But the biggest mistake they made/are making?
They are not listening to their audience.
In 1998/1999 The WWE's headliners were:
Stone Cold Steve Austin
The Rock
Shawn Michaels
Mick Foley
The Undertaker
Kane
Now?
HHH
Chris Benoit
John "Bradshaw" Layfield
Eddie Guerrero
The Undertaker
Shawn Michaels
Not very inspiring is it?
Until next time...
Greenberg
