Robert Gould is a graduate of the University of Wales, Swansea, a former teacher of history, and the author of history books for schools (The French Revolution & European Nationalism, 1848-71) and a number of one act plays, including Jump! and Fatalities, which were staged at Upstairs at Dempsey's in Cardiff and the Dylan Thomas Theatre, Swansea in 2001. Collaborating with composer Ty Kroll, Bob has written the book and lyrics for three musicals, Lovers; Alone; and Vocalize!
Bob has collaborated with Jimmy Granstrom on writing the play Inside Out, as well as a number of pop, rock, folk song lyrics. Amongst the composers Bob has written lyrics for are: Filip von Uexkull, Dean Heller, Paul Davis, James Voros , Kolja Erdman, Wolfgang Liebert and Michael Dube. Bob also writes lyrics with Allan Mooney and Allan, Jimmy and Bob have written a number of songs with singer/songwriter Ben Messenger. In 2005 Bob wrote lyrics for young Welsh pop singer Jordan Puleston's album, "Crossing Borders", and produced Jordan's live concert at the Dylan Thomas Theatre, Swansea. One of the songs on the album that Jordan sang in his concert was a new jazz version of Puccini's aria "Nessun Dorma" with English lyrics by Bob Gould. Click on the link for a video clip:

Bob's collaborated on a musical adaptation of Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper with composer Robert Thomson and has also co-written two musicals with co-librettist Jimmy Granstrom: Nova - the Musical With A Virtual Twist, with composer Tristan Bons; and The Dying Game, a multi-national collaboration (Sweden, USA, Netherlands, UK) with composers Filip von Uexkull, Ty Kroll & Tristan Bons, which tackles the tragic problem of HIV/AIDS in Africa.
Bob's latest musical projects are After The Turn (with composer/lyricist Tim Jones); Shadow On The Sun (with composer Omri Lahav and co-librettist/lyricist Jimmy Granstrom); Elephant Juice, Grace Notes, B.O.A.T.S. and My Land's Shore (all with composer/lyricist Christopher J. Orton). The world concert premiere of My Land's Shore was staged at The Gate, Cardiff on August 3-5, 2007.
Bob has also co-written a short black comedy play, The Road To Port Of Barry, with Christopher J. Orton. It is still in the process of development and will receive a staging in The Studio at the Dolman Theatre, Newport, South Wales on April 25-26, 2008.
