The A Final Proved to be a Interesting affair with Kevin (Xray) and Graham (HB) fighting it out through the First 10 laps until a problem with Kevin's Car Led him Back into the pits, Which allowed Tony Trueman into the 2nd place spot and a HotBodies 1-2 was destined to be on the cards, with Lee Taylor Sporting the New Caster Car (Caster ZX-1.5R) From Answer Rc sitting Comfortably in 3rd Place it looked as this could be the first Podium Place for the Caster Brand Having Just won the B Final But a Loose Body Flapping in the wind Meant Lee Had to Come in and have it secured before continuing his quest to again show dominance in the up and coming 2009 Season Sadly with the Pack being so tight in this "A" Final the Caster Team had to settle for a 11 place But prove the combinations coming forward could be a force to be reckoned with in the future season.........Back onto the Final
With the First and Second places being secured with a Hotbodies 1 and 2 and Graham Proving "I am the daddy" with the Hotbodies D8, RB (WS73)Engine, Orion 2066 Pipe and the Angle Spike Combination, it was Now Going to be down to the Final Podium Place and what a Battle Between Collin Brennan (Hobao) and Robert Cork (Losi 2.0) it was to be, with Collin Coming up from the B final in 15th Place and produce a storming Race and By Lap11 was now hot on the heels of Frankley Driver Rob Cork who had driven his socks off all day with his Losi 2.0 and Rossi Combination, with Lee in the pits having his shell secured it was Now down to Rob and Collin for that all important 3rd Place Slot, at Lap19 Rob saw the Finishing line with a Possible 3rd under his belt for Losi, and on the 20th and Final lap it was Very close for that 3rd Place, with Collin So Close, that for the Final bends of this final It was Anyone of these 2 Guys Place.....And then on the final Bend of the final Rob put it in the Hosing and Collin took the Line and the 3rd Place Victory!

The second round of the CML Winter Series saw two heats of truggies, and one of buggies. The track was run the opposite way round, making it anti-clockwise. This time, however, some big names turned up, obviously trying to get that always helpful practice for the buggy round the following day. These included Jon Hazelwood (Hyper 9), Jon Howells (Hyper 8.5) and Craig Drescher (RC8). With the track wet, Maxx Mulchers were the tyres to use, allowing some grip in the treacherous conditions. With limited grip, it was very hard to put down fast laps which became increasingly difficult with unpredictable rain showers lashing down during the races, this lead to some drivers having problems with electronics and others just finding it too cold!
Overall in qualifying, Matthew Lewis once again showed that he was among the best after his win at the last round, by overcoming problems in the first two rounds to win the last two, putting him in front of the rest of the field with 2 points. Ricky Cooper came second, with three points, after his win in round 2 and then coming second to Matthew in the final rounds. Michael Lewis finished off the top three in qualifying with 4 points after his impressive consistency enabled him to finish second in the first two rounds, followed by third in rounds 3 and 4.
In the buggies, Craig Drescher put on a great show, winning 2 out of the 4 rounds, enabling him to start on the pole spot for the finals. Jon Howells finished in second, after winning round 1 and fighting for all his positions. 3rd on the grid was well contended for, with Bruce Thompson and Jon Hazelwood both ending on 4 points. However, Bruce’s fastest time was 0.61 seconds quicker than Jon’s!
Onto the Finals, and after getting bumped up from the B final, Tom Jordan and Paul Keatley found out that the A final was a very quick race, with Paul finishing a full 2 laps behind the 4th place driver, Ricky Cooper, leaving them to battle between themselves. Matthew Lewis once again got off to a great start, and pulled away a considerable lead, allowing him to pit and still keep his top spot. Michael Lewis started in second and had a tough battle with both Ricky Cooper and Paul White, all having at least one lap in 2nd position. On lap 3, disaster stuck for Michael, when he overcooked ‘the cheese’ and ended up needing marshaling. But thanks to fast reactions from the marshal, he was able to regain 3rd almost immediately. During the first pit stop window – around lap 10 – things started hotting up in the battle for second. With Matthew Lewis still half a lap in front, he just needed to coast it home, but his brother had pitted early, so he could get an advantage when the other two drivers he was fighting with pitted. This worked perfectly, as Ricky Cooper had a slow pit stop, due to crashing on the entry, which left Paul White to take his pit stop on lap 11 after overtaking Ricky. After the pit stop, it was a straight fight, with the order being, Matthew Lewis out in front, with his brother behind him. Then after him, there was Paul White then Ricky Cooper. This is how it ended at the checkered flag.
As it turned out, the buggy race provided practice for both the track and the weather conditions on Sunday. Craig Drescher and Bruce Thompson finished 1st and 2nd respectively, with Russ Wynn-Smith’s consistency showing through, whilst all the top drivers were having problems, he just cruised through to take 3rd.
Well done to all that were involved, especially the race organizers, it was a great meeting even though the weather was a horrible. Hopefully it will be better for the next round, but somehow I doubt it; this is

Following on from the success of this years interclub ‘8th-08’ Series we are currently well into the process of putting together the details of next years successor which will be known as ‘The Race Central 8th-09 Series’
CML winter series round 1 Rally Cross

The 2ND annual CML series was again to take place at Frankley Model Car clubs excellent all weather venue in the
After an informative drivers briefing the 1st round of the CML series got underway, the drying track looked fantastic and with the sun shinning everything was in place for good days racing.
Luckily this round would see the drivers getting a round of timed practice in before going into qualifying. This unfortunately won't happen at following rounds as we will lose day light hours throughout the winter.
With 3 rounds of qualifying we saw Darren Bloomfield lay down the gauntlet in the 1st round with a staggering 8 laps/5m18.13.
Onto round 2 and Neil Cragg was now the quickest man with a fast 8/5m28.08.
Round 3 and Darren was back up there with a 8/5m22.04, although not as quick as his 1st run was impressive never the less.
On to the finals and we would see 3 bump-ups per final with 8 finals taking place!.
The lower finals saw some excellent racing; Cameron Currin managed a double bump going from the G final to the E final.
The C final saw Steven Childerhouse take the win, followed buy Charles Goodwin 2nd and then Ian Bernard 3rd.

The B Final saw bump up man Ian Bernard come from the back of the grid (car 15) to take the led for a while until he ran into problems, we would then see John Holmes and Chris Leighton battle it out at the front for the rest of the 15 minute final. By the end it was Chris Leighton 1st , John Holmes 2nd, 3rd was taken by Richard (KONG) McKenzie who came from 10th on the grid.
In the A final our TQ man Darren Bloomfield led the way from the start with Neil Cragg and Simon Willetts hot on his heals, Darren Stayed in front for the entire 20 minute final leaving Simon and Neil to battle it out for 2nd position. After the chequered flag it was Darren Bloomfield with a well deserved 1st, Neil Cragg 2nd and Simon Willetts 3rd.

This year along with the normal Championship standings there will be a constructors championship running along to promote team work amongst the drivers, the teams and results can be seen below.
Team Horizon 130 Points
Team CML 119 Points
Team DXR 70 Points
Team Mirange 66 Points
Team 1st Models 43 Points

CML Winter Series Round 1 – Truggies

With only 12 Truggy entrants for the first round of this series, buggies were allowed to join the event. Many drivers opted for the Maxx Mulchers for the first few rounds on the slightly damp track. Once the track dried out, there were many different tires used. The reduced numbers allowed plenty of track time to get to know the Frankley track.
Qualifying
In Round 1, Chris Leighton (RC8T) pulled out 4 seconds on the Matthew Lewis (Losi 8T) to produce a fast 7 lapper. They were followed by Mark Gilmore (RC8T/GO), Paul white (Losi 8T/Ninja) and Tom Jordan who also gained 7 laps It was clear that these were the drivers to watch.

Round 2 was the fastest round for many drivers. Chris and Matthew both came within 5 seconds of 8 laps and Matthew only 0.57 seconds behind Chris. This time more drivers were all on the leading lap, with Paul White, Mark Gilmore, Jack Laws and Scott Walker all achieving 7 laps.
Once again Matthew and Chris were out in front, but this time Matthew led by just under 3 seconds. Neither improved on their previous times, however this was the only round that all drivers managed to finish at least one lap. It was a shame for Steve Saxton, as problems prevented him competing more than 2 laps along with Mark Gilmore. Glyn Morgan also had a hard time of qualifying, with a new truck (RC8T) and using the meeting as running in for his engine. Or at least this was his excuse!
Finals
B – Final
Both finals were 20 minutes long, with the top 3 progressing to the A-Final. On pole for the B–Final was Jack Laws, followed by Scott Walker then Piers Pearson. These three got off to a great start and by the end pulled away a considerable lead. Piers Pearson still finished 3rd even though he stopped 2 laps before the end because of a LiPo failure.
Picture of aTop 3 B Final

A Final
Matthew Lewis took control the start, and got in front of the pole sitter, Chris Leighton on the back straight, as he carried more momentum over the tabletop. This left him to run his own race, coming away with a clear victory. The next two positions were very closely fought for. Chris Leighton was looking on to take 2nd, but then made a mistake with his pit stop strategy and ran out of fuel on lap 12, letting Paul White take 2nd. However, he misjudged ‘the cheese’ and flipped. He dropped to 6th while he waited for a marshal and Michael Lewis took 2nd. Chris Leighton and Michael Lewis battled for the rest of the race, showing great determination and driver control. A crash looked inevitable, but they raced well and in the end Chris came out on top only 2 seconds in front of Michael. Matthew Lewis continued on a lap of honour after the race had finished and even completed a full back flip off the double to please the crowd.

Round 1 of the Truggy winter series ran very smoothly, and all the drivers showed great skill. I hope that this will continue for the rest of the series, although it would be nice to see a more people turning up to show their support for all the hard work put in by these guys. Well done to all that entered, it was a very enjoyable meeting. All that is left to say is... bring on Round 2!!!!

With just 17 days to go the question will be how many days will be left to the complete closure of the series entry with only 31 spaces left for the first round and some top names in the sport coming i have a feeling within the next week or so we may have to start a reserve list and turn up on the day and hope you can race..undoutably there will be people unable to attend after entering and paying the question is how many with the meeting being capped at 90 with no exceptions to the rule some people may ultimatley be disapointed
stay tuned to race reports, drivers spot lights and many many pictures with the meeting being covered by the magazines also this promises to be the series with maximum exposure and hopefully maximum fun in a profetional eviroment
