The Blue Tiger Design Studio

Beautiful Handcrafted Jewellery

On May 7th 2009 my dad was diagnosed with terminal Bowel Cancer. On July 8th 2009 after a short battle, ( a very one sided battle as dad never stood a chance) he passed away very peacefully at The Hospice of The Good shepherd in Backford near Chester. The staff there were wonderful and it brought great comfort to myself and my brother to know dad was being looked after so well.

I have been making and selling jewellery for a few years now, and wanted to try to raise some money for the hospice so this seamed like to logical way to do it! So I will be donating a percentage of each sale to the hospice.

Wearable works of art

Do you dare to wear....?

Welcome to 'The blue tiger design studio'.....thank you taking an interest in my designs. Are you fed up of buying a peice of jewellery only to discover that your best friend just bought the same thing? All my designs are one of a kind pieces and if you wear one of my designs you will be the only person wearing that design. I have some collections such as 'Masquerade' that are designed on the same theme but each one is different. There are beads that I like to use again in many designs...such as polmer clay roses and flowers...these are all handmade by either myself or other artists, I also love vintage beads and try to use them as much as possible, as well as hand made lampwork beads, swarovski crystals and gemstones. Many of my designs are based on a theme chosen by myself or some are made as competition entries. I have trained in Art and design and also fashion design, and when I was a student I used to love the design stage of a project, particually the mood boards when you collect all the images and bits and peices that represent the chosen theme. Then arrange them together for inspiration in the design process....designing my charm bracelets is a similar process, I collect beads and charms on a chosen theme and arrange them together to creat  interesting and sometimes quirky peice's of jewellery.

I am inspired by many things, including Monet, Degas, Renoir and Van Gogh, the  renasance movement, fashion and architecture especially the Gaudi architecutre in barcelona. I also love the stage version of 'the phantom of the opera' I sat open mouthed during 'Masquerade' when the phantom decends the staircase in the 'red death'costume and I have used this theme several times. I curently have some designs out on loan to quarto publishing being photgraphed to appear in a book being writen by jewellery designer and friend Kim Gover. When the designs are returned to me they will be available to buy. I also have a design in another book 'the beaders colour mixing directory' by Sandra Wallace and my designs often featuring in 'bead' magazine.
