Blue Shadows Mounted Drill Team is a great organization to join if you are between the ages of 9 and 17 and enjoy riding horses or would like to learn how. This organization is not just a riding class but a team, so the rider will be expected to keep up with their attendance, be willing to learn, and work with the team. You do not have to have any riding experience prior to joining Blue Shadows and you to do not need to own your own horse. Each troop in Blue Shadows is taught by a volunteer officer who has either started as a youth and progressed through the ranks or has joined when an adult as an officer in training. The officers teach Western riding and equitation to all shadows in every troop. When a rider first joins Blue Shadows, they are first placed into a remount class. In here they learn all about horsecare and horsemanship along with basic drill maneuvers and procedures. When the rider proves to grasp all this knowledge, they are promoted to trooper and placed into an intermediate troop that rides Tuesday through Friday night. Blue Shadows is located in Agua Dulce and Lake View Terrace of Los Angeles County, California. Riders come from all across the Los Angeles County to participate in this organization.
