Troop S Newsletter

January/February 2005

Hey everyone!!
Welcome to 2005!!! This year is going to be great!! I hope everyone had a Happy New Year! This month has been a fun month for Troop S! Along with riding in the cold, Troop S has been able to do a lot of things to bring the troop closer together. We went to Medieval Times, which was a ton of fun and everyone had a great time together. We even got our name announced over the intercom. In troop we have been having new people drill and many people try different spots, and everyone has been doing an excellent job. We also had time to play a few games.

We also had a few birthdays this month: TFC Matt Leon turned 17 on January 4th, Cpl. Kiara Roberts turned 15 on January 16th, Stb. Sgt. Elaine MacPherson turned 14 on January 24th, Trp. Trevor Smith turned 11 on February 11th, and 1st Sgt. Shana Williams turned 18 on February 25! Happy Birthday to you all!!

That’s all for now! Hope you all had a great winter!
1st Sgt. Shana Williams

Troop S Shadow Of The Month: This person has been with Troop S a very long time. She has always been a quiet but fiercely committed member of the troop. She takes responsibility for herself and her actions, takes on new tasks willingly and takes it upon herself to stay as late as the officers to make sure everything is finished and find out if anything further is needed of her. She is an excellent rider and has put a lot of effort into forever improving upon her drilling and leadership skills. Congratulations to Troop S Shadow Of The Month 1st Sgt. Shana Williams!!!

November/December 2004

Hello everyone! First of all Troop S got both 1st place Troop Drill and Equitation Highpoint at the post show! We scored a total of 2 (yes, two) first place plaques!!! I’m so proud of all of you, great job!! Good job to all of the other troops too; it was a lot of fun!

Here are some of the equitation results: Officers Equitation: Captain Shelley 1st Place, First Lieutenant Rosenberg 2nd Place, First Lieutenant Davis 4th Place. Private Equitation: 1st Lieutenant Rosenberg 1st Place, Captain Shelley 2nd Place, 1st Lieutenant Davis 4th Place, 2nd Lieutenant MacPherson 5th Place. Sergeants Equitation: 1st Sergeant Williams 2nd Place, Platoon Sergeant Serpico 4th Place. Corporals Equitation: Corporal Roberts 3rd Place, Corporal MacPherson 5th Place. T.F.C. Equitation: T.F.C. Leon 3rd Place, Trp. Equitation: Tpr. Stern 1st, Tpr. Galasso 2nd Place. Congratulations everyone!!!! Well done!!!

As you can tell (judging by the equitation results above), Troop S did ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY EXTRAORDINARILY AWESOME in our past post show. Now see, riding in the sweltering heat or absolute teeth-chattering cold paid off, didn’t it? We had one party for our extravagant equitation scores and another wonderful party for our fantastic troop drill. We stuffed ourselves with yummy food and played some awesome games( boot game  ). You all deserved it! Hope you enjoyed yourselves!

Troop S had a couple of promotions this month. Congrats to Stb. Sgt. Elaine MacPherson. You are both great assets to our troop, and are well deserving of these promotions! We were, however, very sad to lose our wonderful Corporal Mary Ortiz to her busy school schedule. She and her cheery smile will be missed, but we hope she comes by to visit often.

That’s all for now! Have a great winter!
Sincerely,
2nd Lt. April MacPherson
