Kevin Boyd aka K. Boyd aka KillaBeats was born and raised in Memphis, TN. Growing up, he spent half of his school life in a predominately white private school. Finally in eight grade, Kevin was transferred to a public school. He slowly began to gravitate toward hip-hop music. During his high school years, he began writing rhymes to songs that were popular at the time and spitting them to his friends.
Once Kevin got to college, he met Blue and they began making beats. Kevin continued to write rhymes while he tried to learn the process of producing. Also while in college he met other artists Lil Smurf, C. Baker, Lil Maine, Dizzy D, Show, and Renegade.
After Kevin left college, he met up with Jack Sloan in 2005. They began working together on tracks also. In May 2006, Kevin released "Time 2 Shine", his first mixtape. However the cd only featured one track fully produced by himself. Kevin realized this was a problem and he began to focus on gaining all the production knowledge that he could. In September 2007, he released his second mixtape, "I Need Money, Vol. 1". This second disc featured several tracks produced by himself and Jack Sloan. Full engineering credits went to himself.
In the Fall of 2007, Kevin and Jack Sloan decided to create a production company together, thus Blue Music Production was born. In the short time that this company has been in existance, they have produced tracks for at least two dozen different artists. It was a given that Blue join them in working to get this company off the ground. In May 2008, "The Bridge, Vol. I" was released. This disc features artists that have worked with BMP. There is limited production credit by Blue Music, they just want to help the artists that they work with gain recognition.
Kevin's third mixtape, "Then & Now" was released in August 2008. This cd featured production by Blue Music Production. It featured hit singles, "Step Up" ft. Lil Rick and "She Cold" ft. Slim'm. This mixtape was available in stores around Memphis, TN. In 2009, Kevin was featured on "The Bridge, Vol. 2" with his single "Crown Vic Ridin". In November 2009, Kevin released his fourth mixtape, "Just Me" with the title track featuring singing from talented artist Kena B. He is now working on a mixtape with Lil Paris from California as well as his fifth solo mixtape "Southern Fried".
