Bluefield Marching Barons: Bluefield, West Virginia

  Bluefield Marching Barons

About Bluefield Barons Professional Minor League Football Team

The Bluefield Barons are a semi-professional football league that plays in the Alliance Football League (formally the Appalachian League) and had their inaugural start in 2005.

The Bluefield Barons play their games at Mitchell Stadium in Bluefield, West Virginia, the Barons draw their talent from a wide area across the states of West Virginia and Virginia.  The team attracts of former college football players and high school football players.  Many of Barons players are former standouts from local colleges like Concord University and even West Virginia University.  Local high school powerhouses Bluefield and Graham also send players to the Barons.

In the Alliance League, where soft play and forfeits are common because most of the teams are from small towns and can barely afford to field a full roster, the Bluefield Barons are quick to dominate-sometimes shutting out their opponents and leaving them with negative yardage at the end of the game.  Barons even added more powerful opponents from outside the league to augment their schedule as the year went on, taking down a highly regarded team from Lynchburg.

31-year old head coach Bill Dudley was named Mideast Coach of the Year by Minor League Football News.
