Phase II: Fall Required Activities
Opening Event
Held on August 19th (the Sunday night before classes begin). The Opening Event is your introduction to and first experience in your theme. At the event, you will meet others in your theme as well as Blue Chip staff members. To make up Opening Event, check in with a Blue Chip staff member during the first week of classes to receive your Blueprint and any information you have missed.
HED 297a (University of Arizona)/SOC 289 (PCC) Theme Class
During the Fall semester, you will participate in a 2-credit course around your theme area. There is not a make-up for the theme class.
Blue Chip Symposium
Held on September 15th. You will participate in a half-day workshop series covering the Blue Chip program, excellence through leadership, and being a role model as a leader. The make-up for Blue Chip Symposium is to attend 3 ATLAS workshops of your choice (schedule located at www.union.arizona.edu/atlas) and the following workshops: Preventing Hazing (ATLAS workshop) and Protect your Webutation (ATLAS workshop or NCLC workshop).

Fall Interphase
This event will offer you the opportunity to learn more about issues within your theme and meet Phase II, III, and IV students in your theme. Interphases are offered at the beginning of each semester. Contact your Theme Coordinator for make-upnformation. Fall Interphases have occurred for Fall 2007.

You will get a chance to meet with your mentor to learn more about each other. There is no make-up for the Mentor Meeting.

Fall Community Service
At a minimum, you will be responsible for ten hours of individual service per semester in Phase II. The Service Coordinators will help you find projects to meet your needs and help the community. Stay tuned to the Blue Chip listserv and check out the website for information on service opportunities as well. There is no make-up for Fall Community Service.

Fall Leadership & Involvement Transcript (LIT)
The LIT provides students the opportunity to begin documenting their leadership and extra-curricular activities utilizing an official University source. You are expected to begin an LIT during Phase I and continue adding to it throughout your time in Blue Chip. There is no make-up for Fall LIT.
Fall Leadership Portfolio
The portfolio will allow you to capture the activities and leadership involvement during college, stay organized, and create a display to show during job or leadership position interviews. You can use your portfolio for job interviews, scholarship processes, and keeping track of your leadership experiences. You will prepare and present your portfolio in your theme class. There is no make-up for the Fall Leadership Portfolio. The following information should be in your portfolio:

Spring Theme Event
Each semester students will be expected to attend one theme event. Theme events are coordinated by Phase III students. You may not attend an event in the same theme area both semesters. You are encouraged to attend more than one event each semester. Events will be provided in following themes: Eco, Service, Global, Arts, and Social Entrepreneurial. There is no make-up for the Spring Theme Event.

The Desert Museum Experience Wednesday, April 9, 2008 5:00 pm. Cactus Grill.
A quick overview of the vastly diverse ecological community of the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum, located here in Tucson. We will provide fun animal facts, and discuss some of the indigenous creatures native to Arizona. We will also have a brief discussion on how to preserve the Desert Museum

Picture Your Campus Sunday, April 27, 2008 4:00 PM Meet at the Flagpole

Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation "Walk in Wednesday" Wednesday, April 16, 2008 6:00 pm SAAF (375 S. Euclid Ave)
This event and a weekly one help by SAAF. It provides and outlet for volunteers to contribute to one of SAAF's purposes of diminishing and inhibiting the spread of AIDS, through the creation of hand-outs, packs of relevent products/items to fulfill this purpose of awareness and safety.

A Glance at Goya's Prints Tuesday April 22, 2008 1 pm UA Art Museum.
We will go to the UA Art Museum to see the Goya's print exhibit. We will learn about Goya and significance of his prints and how they influence future generations.

Case Study Competition
On a small team, will be competing in a case study competition with all Phase II students. This competition will let you use the leadership knowledge you have already gained and will give you the opportunity to create an innovative solution to a real-life scenario. The Case Study Competition is March 7, 2008 from 9:00am-5:00pm.

Service Showcase
Your Phase II theme class will make a display about the theme project and attend the Service Showcase on April 23rd from 3:00-5:00pm in the Union Ballroom to share your experience. You will need to plan to attend at least 1 hour of the Service Showcase to answer questions about your project and see what the other teams/themes in Blue Chip have been working on. If you cannot attend for a minimum of 1 hour at the Service Showcase, you will need to make up the event by writing a 3 page paper about the underlying issue causing a need for your theme project.
Capstone Presentation Attendance
At the end of each semester, graduating seniors will make formal presentations certifying their leadership development. This is a great way to get a deeper understanding of where Blue Chip will take you in the next couple of years. Attend 1 presentation of your choice. Capstone times and dates will be listed here as they are set. There is no make-up for the Capstone Presentation Attendance.

Phase II Evaluation
In order for us to find out more about your experience in Blue Chip for the year, you are asked to fill out an evaluation about your Phase II experience. This can help us learn more about you and new ideas for Blue Chip. There is no make-up for the Phase II Evaluation.
