What do I have to do if I have to miss an event?
We understand that you may not always be able to attend every required event, but we also know the difference between a legitimate absence and someone who does not want to be in attendance. Check out your Phase requirements to find out the make-up for events you may have missed.
What do I do if I miss an event without notifying someone first?
If you miss an event without notifying Blue Chip staff member ahead of time it will be up to you to complete this requirement on your own. This may come at an additional cost to you; some events in Blue Chip will require students to reimburse the program if we are not notified ahead of time.
Will I be penalized if I study abroad?
Of course not! The Arizona Blue Chip Program values diversity and encourages students to travel and study abroad. This could become part of your Personal Leadership Plan and you should fill out the Blue Chip Temporary Leave of Absence Form to make sure we retain your contact information.
What if I lose my Blueprint for Success booklet?
If you lose the booklet, talk to a staff member to get another copy at a nominal replacement fee.
How long can I stay in one phase?
Phases are expected to be completed in one year. However, requirements can be completed over the summer in special circumstances.
How can my friend join Blue Chip?
Just have him/her apply online. Students are admitted to Blue Chip by July 1st each year for the upcoming academic year. Applications are online at http://www.union.arizona.edu/bluechip
Do I need to maintain any specific GPA?
No minimum GPA is required, but in order to be a Blue Chip participant you must be in good academic standing and a student at the University of Arizona or Pima Community College (Pima Leadership Institute).
Does participating in a philanthropy count as service credit?
No. While you may volunteer to staff a fundraiser, you ay not count participation in an event as service credit. The following definitions will help you to determine what might count as service:
What do I get out of Blue Chip?
As with any program, you will get as much out of Blue Chip as you choose to put into the program. The most tangible benefits of Blue Chip are personal growth and increased leadership skill development. Upon graduation, students will leave the program with enhanced professional and personal leadership development.
Where is the Blue Chip room?
In room 404 of the Student Union Memorial Center above the bookstore (on the 4 th floor). Phase I students can check their mailbox and all students can use a computer and come up to say hi!
