          GENEALOGY - TEXAS STYLE!

For me, genealogy is a door to the past history of my family and a fascinating look of who we really are beyond the initial family unit make up of parents and siblings, as well as our parents' family units and theirs -- which is often what the average person knows.   It is fascinating to discover own's own connection to people like Daniel Boone, defender of the Alamo fame, or another distant cousin who is a South Antartica explorer fame.  It is fascinating to learn how your family changed and formed the history of yesterday, which created the environment that we stand, live and breathe in today.  It often gives ourselves renewed strength and determination to make our own mark on the history in the making, so that we too can make a difference in this world for our own children and our children's children and beyond!

My mother has been working on the genealogical history of our family roots for over the past 30 years or more and has accumulated information for various branches of our ancestery tree, which includes various surnames (but not necessarily limited to) such as:

CROUCH, PEDEN, KRASTIN, NALL, COMPTON, PHILLIPS, GRIFFIN, BOONE, WHITEHURST, KINKAID, and much, much more.

Whether you are a genuine genealogical/historical buff, or one that has just beginning to dig into the past, I hope that you will enjoy some of the sites mentioned below as you are swept up into the addictive world of genealogy!  Once you get swept into this world, it is much like the comparison of never being able to put a good book down -- especially, since you have a personal involvement into the research (it is all about you and your family, past, present, and future!).  Happy explorations!!

Kathryn

          GENEALOGY WORKS!

February 10, 2002:  My Mom emails me to find her long lost cousin (the last of 14 that were to be found) with only his name, his birthplace, and estimated month and year he was born.  I got on the net and, not only located him, but found out that he lived in a town close to my parents.  I also located a phone number and my Mom called him -- it was him!!  She was so very excited and emailed and left several messages on my voice mail to convey her joy and excitement.  I had taken 5 minutes to find what she had been looking for years and years and years.  The cousin's father had died in 1942 and everyone had lost contact with them after that point in time.  It turns out that this cousin's daughter lives within earshot of the subdivision they live in (in the same town)!  Imagine that!!! What a small world we live in!!!
