Welcome to Clark Gables Biography
This is my dedication to possibly one of the greatest and, frankly, the most damned well talented actors of the twenteth century.
Clark Gable was born on the 1st of Febuary 1901 in Candiz Ohio. When he was fourteen Clark began doing odd jobs and at the age of seventeen joined a small theatrical stock company.It wasn?t until after being in the movie "Painted Desert" in 1931 that his movie career was launched. That year he made 11 movies.(WOW!!)
Anyways while he was making these films he met who was soon to be his first wife Josaphene Dillion.
He tackled Broadway at a time when producers were looking for rough-hewn, down-to-earth types as a contrast to the standard cardboard stage leading men. Gable fit this bill, although he had been imbued with certain necessary social graces by his second wife, the wealthy Ria Langham.
Clark won an Accadamy Award for his movie IT HAPPENED ONE NIGHT, and married his third wife Carole Lombard. But when Lombard was killed in a 1942 plane crash, Gable seemed to lose all interest in life. Though far beyond draft age, he entered the Army Air Corps and served courageously in World War II as a tail-gunner. In fact Gable was the favourite actor of Adolf Hitler and Hitler offered a reward for his capture...Alive of Course....Gable's postwar films for MGM were, for the most part, disappointing, as was his 1949 marriage to Lady Sylvia Ashley. Dropped by both his wife and his studio, Gable ventured out as a freelance actor in 1955, quickly regaining lost ground and becoming the highest paid non-studio actor in Hollywood. He again found happiness with his fifth wife, Kay Spreckels.
Gables movies included: Gone with the Wind, Teacher's Pet, The Painted Desert and quite a few other films. In fact he made over nintey films in his carrer.
Gable died at the young age of 59 of a heart attack just before the birth of his son and just after the realse of his last movie The Misfits.
