Nervous Client

I work with many clients who were nervous at their first visit either due to their appearence, low self esteam, worries and concerns about undressing and because they are unsure of the process.

If you are nervous or concious of anything, please let me know and I can tailor your treatment to make you feel comfortable and relaxed.

During any massage you will ALWAYS be covered by 2 towels, a large towel for your legs and abdomen and a smaller towel for your arms and chest.  The only time an area will be uncovered is when I am working on that part of the body.  Once I have massaged that area (i.e. your arm or leg etc) it will be re-covered and I will go to the next area.

During reflexology you are fully clothed.  You only need remove your shoes and socks.

I hope this answers some of your fears, however please give me a call and I can talk you further through the process.

FAQ

1. What should I expect during my first visit?

I will require you to fill out a health & medical history form. This usually takes about 20-30 minutes and only needs to be completed on your first appointment.  Afterwards I will begin by asking you general questions to establish what areas you would like worked on if there are any conditions needing to be addressed.

2. Where will my massage session take place?

Your treatment should take place in a warm, comfortable, quiet room at your own home or at my homebased treatment room. Soft music will be played to help you relax. You will lie on a massage couch especially designed for your comfort, which can be adjusted to suit you.  You are more than welcome to have a friend with you if it makes you happy.

3. What do I wear during a massage?

Depending on the massage you receive you may or may not need to undress. For a full body massage, most people choose to wear underwear, however some prefer d and to determine if massage is appropriate for you(this is often done on the telephone at the time of booking).

to wear shorts and a vest top.  YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF KNICKERS ON. I will give you privacy to undress, and you will be covered with a sheet and blanket at all times except the area being worked on.

4. What do I do during a treatment?

Make yourself comfortable. If I need you to adjust your position, Iwill either move you or will ask you to move what is needed. Otherwise, change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. Many people close their eyes and relax completely during a session; others prefer to talk. It's up to you. Its your time and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax. Do not hesitate to ask questions at any time.

5. How will a massage feel?

In a general Swedish massage, your session may start with broad, flowing strokes (effleurage) that will help calm your nervous system and relax exterior muscle tension. As your body becomes relaxed, pressure will gradually be increased to relax specific areas and relieve areas of muscular tension. A light oil or lotion is used to allow your muscles to be massaged without causing excessive friction to the skin. Do not hesitate to ask questions or mention if you feel any discomfort so that I can use another approach or technique.

6. Will the massage oils used make me break-out?

I use hypoallergenic massage oils or lotions. However, if you have sensitivity to certain types of oils or lotion please bring it to my attention at booking so we can discuss alternatives.

To perform reflexology I like to use a wax as this lasts longer and enables me to work the reflexology points.

7. Is a massage or reflexology always appropriate?

No, there are several medical conditions that would make massage or reflexology inappropriate. That's why it is necessary that you fill out the health history forms and before you begin your session. I will ask general health questions to rule out if you have any contraindications to your treatment. It is very important that you inform me of any health problems or medications you are taking. If you are under a doctor's care, it is strongly advised that you receive a written recommendation for massage prior to any session. I may require a recommendation or approval from your doctor.

8. How long will my treatment last?

The average full-body massage treatment lasts approximately one hour.  Many people prefer a 90minute session for optimal relaxation. Always allow relaxation time prior to and after the session.

A normal reflexology treatment lasts one hour.

9. How will I feel after the treatment?

Please see the relevant page explaining how you will feel following your treatment.

 11. What payment methods to you take & do you have gift vouchers?

I currently only take cash or cheque at the time of service. I can provide vouchers if you would like to buy a massage as a gift and will accept pre payment for a treatment through pay pal.

12. Should I talk during the treatment?

While some people perfer talking throughout the treatment, do not feel that you have to make conversation with me during the treatment. This is your treatment, so its up to you. If you need an adjustment with pressure, temperture in the room, etc. be sure to let me know about your needs.

13. Why are men only taken on recommendation

Men are only taken from referals for safety reasons.   I understand that 99.9% of the time there would be no issues, however this is my policy and it is not uncommon amongst mobile therapists.
