BLUES LADIES CELEBRATE SEASON
Blaenavon Blues Ladies celebrated the 2008-2009 season on Sunday with their presentation evening being held at Forgeside R.F.C.
The club enjoyed their first season in the top flight of ladies football when they finished a creditable fourth in the South Wales Women’s League. They also reached the semi finals of both the South Wales League Cup and the Welsh Cup where they lost to the eventual winners of both competitions.
The Blues played 20 games in all competitions, winning 11 and losing 9.
The awards were presented to the following players:
Top Goal Scorer: Lyndsey Davies
Most Promising Player: Tenah French
Coaches Award: Kirsty Williams
Player of the Year: Sian Pritchard
Players Player of the Year: Abi Powell
Terry Walters Award: Lisa & Steve Reed.
Next season the team will again be playing in the South Wales Women’s League Division 1. The club are currently looking for a coach to take over the coaching responsibilities of this highly successful ladies football team.
