BLUES LADIES CELEBRATE SEASON

 

 Blaenavon Blues Ladies celebrated the 2008-2009 season on Sunday with their presentation evening being held at Forgeside R.F.C.

The club enjoyed their first season in the top flight of ladies football when they finished a creditable fourth in the South Wales Women’s League. They also reached the semi finals of both the South Wales League Cup and the Welsh Cup where they lost to the eventual winners of both competitions.

The Blues played 20 games in all competitions, winning 11 and losing 9.

The awards were presented to the following players:

 Top Goal Scorer: Lyndsey Davies

Most Promising Player: Tenah French

Coaches Award: Kirsty Williams

Player of the Year: Sian Pritchard

Players Player of the Year: Abi Powell

Terry Walters Award: Lisa & Steve Reed.

 Next season the team will again be playing in the South Wales Women’s League Division 1. The club are currently looking for a coach to take over the coaching responsibilities of this highly successful ladies football team. General Information

 The Future

The Blues Ladies have been promoted to Division 1 of the South Wales Women's League after their highly successful 1st season in senior ladies football and this coming season 2008-2009 they will be travelling to new venues such as Margam, Cambrian (Rhondda Valley), UWIC (University of Wales Institute Cardiff), Tir-Y-Berth & Pontypridd Town., as well as Swansea City, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil & Merthyr Valley.

Information

The Womens team take part in the South Wales Womens League and play their games on a Sunday afternoon. Their home games take place at the Memorial Ground(old Harlequins pitch). With a 2pm Kick Off. The womens Manager / Coach are Steve & Lisa Reed

The Girls Under 11's take part in the Torfaen Junior League, Girls section. Thier home games take place on a Saturday afternoon at the Harlequins ground, with a 2.30pm Kick Off. The U11's Manager is Lisa Reed.

Training

The Ladies training now takes place every Tuesday at Nantyglo Leisure Centre (Astroturf) 7.00 till 8.00p.m. Any new players wishing to join the club are more than welcome. Make yourself known to the coach's Steve and Lisa.

Juniors Training

The junior girls train every Wednesdays at the Memorial Ground 3.45 till 4.45p.m. Any new players wishing to join the club are more than welcome. Make yourself known to the coach Lisa Reed.
