The Blackwood Valley Railway Company

A Lead Mine Railway in Miniature for Fun.

Welcome to the home of the Blackwood Valley Railway Company, a semi-fictitious company (ie it exists in my head) and is a model of a narrow gauge lead mine railway. Its is in 7mm scale and runs on 16.5mm gauge track, known as 0/16.5. It is an example of a layout built for fun. it has been built on a minimum budget, and was built primarily as somewhere to run my Wrightlines Bagnall. It is also an example of a layout built in a minimum space, it only occupies 54" by 16". It has been done for fun and enjoyment only, not to satisfy some rivet-counter. Rivet Counters BEWARE! Although it has been built for fun it follows prototype practice and so is accurate, and takes scenic inspiration from Snailbeach Lead Mines in SouthWest Shropshire, with operation based on the Glyn Valley Tramway and the Corris Railways in North Wales. Have fun with your Railways, and please feel free to contact me over anything or just to chat about Narrow Gauge or Light Railways. I am a member of the 7mm Narrow Gauge Assoiation, and recommend joining if you model 7mm narrow gauge. P-J Sanders (17).

The BVR was first exhibited on the 19 May at the 7mm Narrow Gauge Association AGM and Exhibition, where it was awarded the Monkton Wylde Shield, for the blue Bagnall and the Layout. I have had had a number of invitations arising from this exhibition as well as the promise of some articles in the modeling press. I want to thank T. Wray and my dad for their help operating the layout at the exhibition. You will see us around some more now!
