Technical Description of "Blackwattle"
Hull: Fibreglass, moulded from imported layers of chopped strand matt and woven roving laminated and laid up by hand with transverse strength provided by mahogany stringers and wooden floors glassed in.

Deck and coachroof are of one piece FRP sandwich construction with half inch balsa core, finished with a teak cap rail. Ventilation is provided by three lewmar opening hatches together with two sliding companion way hatches, 15 vassen ports,and 3 dorade vents.

Rig: Cutter rigged sloop, with furling headsails and slab reefed main

Dacron sails: Main, Headsail,Staysail,Stormjb and Trisail
MPS - 1.5 ounce spinnaker cloth

Keel: Keel is integral with the hull containing internal cast-iron ballast of 10,204lbs set into the keel cavity in a putty of short chopped fibre and polyester resin, finally filled with resin and capped with 4 plys of 18oz roving and 1/5oz matt, finished with a layer of .2 mm gel-coat.

Rudder: Skeg hung, constructed of a solid 4" diameter 80 seamless s/s rod welded to a s.s frame inside the rudder blade.

Engine: 62 hp turbo charged Yanmar

Generator: Portable Honda EU10i 1000 watt

Solar: Two 80 watt BP Solar Panels

Trailing: Aquaair 100 watt

Wind: Airmarine Airex

Electrical: 12 volt system, 800 amphours gel batteries, plus separate starting batter
Water
Tanks: 4 stainless steel tanks, carrying a total of 450 litres
Water maker: Pur 80, producing 13 litres per hour

Heating and Cooling: Diesel ducted heating, with outlets in saloon and main cabin plus 2 wall fans, no other cooling

Dinghies: One Hyperlon dinghy with Suzuki 8 hp outboard motor, and one "Portabote" folding dinghy with Yamaha four stroke 2.5 hp motor.

Windlass and anchors: Electric Muir (not recommended) windlass with 60 lb plough anchor and 100 metres of 10mm chain. Spare 45 lb Bruce Anchor, and a Danforth. Also 100 metres of 20ml braided anchor line

Computerisation: 2 Laptops, one for sailmail, and the other for navigation.
