Blackpool Private Tenants Forum
Press notice
Hot on
the success of the "No Cold Calling" campaign;
Blackpool’s Residents Federation
are keen to develop other services
and initiatives to improve the quality of
life for all Blackpool residents,
Their latest aspiration in partnership with the
Council is to develop a Private Sector Tenants Forum,
The Forum
will consist of private tenants, Federation members and officers from Blackpool
Council who will meet to; identify issues,
coordinate information and improve
support to tenants.
The aims
of the forum will be to deliver a series of market stall events that will,
Raise awareness of tenants rights and responsibilities,
Promote landlord’s
rights, responsibilities and obligations with the ultimate aim of improving
standards of let properties across the town.
An initial
steering group was held at Claremont Community Centre attended by private
tenants,
officers from the council and other leading service providers and
interested parties.
If
you are a private tenant with a bit of time
and commitment to raise the
standards of let housing in your area
we would like to hear from you;
Chris Wright who chaired the meeting on behalf of the Residents
Federation said
Blackpool's strapline "A great place to visit, an even better place to live"
can only be realised if those trapped in the cycle of sub-standard
accommodation are supported to improve their accommodation, circumstances
and subsequent life chances.
